There is pretty much a tradition of gay male singers singing about females, even if the singer is openly gay. To find references in songs you're more likely to find what some people have already talked about, which is people singing about their partner leaving them for someone of the same sex. Those are usually not pro-gay songs even though the subject material is more explicitly gay.

Tons of them, very few openly though. Luther Vandross was not openly gay, just rumored to be. The most notable ones not mentioned in this thread are Tony Washington of the Dynamic Superiors and Keith Barrow. I'm pretty sure "rug muncher" is not an endearing / positive term. Please leave offensive slurs out of the thread. Thanks.
  3. no it does not. there is a very rare alternate (original) version of the other side "lost love" on lock though.

snipers were reliable 5-7 years ago. even then they had backup servers to place multiple snipes to ensure they got through (which is why sometimes a snipe shows up as even 2 or 3 bids from the same user). I was using auctionsniper at the time.

why is "pm me with condition and price" nonsense? I know a lot about record pricing but in this particular case I was asking about a record that seems to be around in the UK but never comes up for sale in the regular channels I see. So I didn't know a price. Moreover, some people don't adjust for condition and other people adjust differently for condition, only caring how it plays. I think some of the people getting mad are mad that someone posts a want and they offer the record at a ridiculous price and the person doesn't accept. You are in "no rush to sell" but not all sellers have that approach, and there is a wide range of what people here consider "market value".

I don't know what this means but it sounds dirty to my american ears

I agree not replying is always rude
  8. yeah, it's simply ebay entertainment. i usually just see those slanted photos and move on, but occasionally click on his auctions to read his ridiculous reserve

I posted a want yesterday, in the post itself said I didn't know how much it was worth now (which I didn't) but I wanted to pay a reasonable price, got two people offering me a copy for sale for reasonable prices, closed the transaction instantly. I avoided having to make anyone else an offer and I avoided people who wanted to gouge me making an unreasonable offer. What's the problem?
  10. sorted thanks everyone

or you can be mad that you didn't get the record, but not mad that you would have paid that extra cent.
  12. boba replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
you have it wrong. you can put in your max, but giving people a chance to respond will enable the psychology of the auction and allow people to rebid. they then can overbid you or at the least knock up your bid. sniping removes the psychology of the auction. you should know your true max though so if you are outbid by 1 cent you're not mad.
  13. boba replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
This is effectively true but not exactly what happens. It does bid and the bid just doesn't go through because it's not above the max. It doesn't try to make a last second decision as to whether to bid or not. The only reason this might make a difference is if there was some weird last minute bid retraction situation, your bid would go through.
  14. I still need a copy of this record that plays without any styrene distortion, ideally a clean copy. I want to pay a reasonable price. But I have no idea what that means now. If you have a clean copy to offer at a reasonable price, please offer it to me. Or if you have some idea of a realistic / reasonable price, feel free to respond, I am leaving the thread unlocked. Thank you.
  15. here is a cleaner one for more expensive. craig moerer used to have some stock of this. https://www.musicstack.com/item/174582008
  16. that should say "Rouser released an edit of another previously released record"
  17. thanks a lot. I'm convinced at this point that the rouser record was second. Why would it have an "f" in the deadwax with the fairmount catalog number unless it was a post-fairmount record. if it was a demo to be shopped around before being picked up by a big label, I don't think it would be designated a fairmount catalog number. more evidence including the copyright being filed by cameo and the fact that fairmount had released an earlier record by the butlers makes me think that the rouser record is after. Also, as George pointed out, Fairmount released an edit of another previously released record (el corols). None of this evidence alone is proof but together I'm convinced. Thanks.
  18. "teen town" was a milwaukee label. totally generic name, like "record town". it doesn't refer to anything specific as far as i know. i don't have a photo of the group and they aren't even mentioned in the gary myers wisconsin books. but they are a milwaukee group, i know someone who knows members.
  19. anyone know the rouser deadwax?
  20. this is as of 1968: Pecle Music Publishing 1834 West Girard Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19130 now it's an apartment building.
  21. Soulfinger is right, there isn't a "mcghee" in the band. Not that it would be relevant anyways but more discussion about the Groundhogs (who I like actually) is now even totally irrelevant, will move to freebasing if it becomes a topic. Thanks.
  22. By the way, carolinasoul.org has aware listed as a charlotte label. if it were just a charlotte group on a detroit label he would have listed it under "north carolina artists on non-NC labels". I think that answers your question?
  23. Are you just asking whether the aware label was owned by a detroit owner? Or whether it was pressed in Detroit?
  24. but you're saying the same thing I'm saying, you're quoting the same article I linked, which is the original article where he says he has "yet to hear it". I was asking if there was some more specific story where someone fed him the info or if it was a cover up or something. Either way, I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist, thanks for your help.
