Now I know my eyes are not perfect,I could see Andy and Tracey in the bottom left corner, but all I could see was they were looking at at summat Bazza
  5. So would I tony, even if I could only stand or sit up in the balcony, and look down at the dancers, and there were some great dancers,as you say wonderful times Bazza
  6. ahhhh, The Palais,I had my first taste of club soul, before "northern" was coined, nearly 40 years ago,was a kids "disco" think it was a Sunday morning ,must have been about 14,went to the dayers nighters the lot, first saw the late and great Edwin Starr there ,very fond memories of the place, a real Ballroom, beautiful it was,Bali hi ,nearly fell of it a few times ,back then I thought it was the most fantastic place in world Bazza And do you know,I think it was
  7. well ,if that happened, I think I would need 8 to 10 tickets for my crew ,for a start Bazza
  8. Ah, thanks Derek , Ok im a dinosaur,I admit it, been called a lot worse Bazza
  9. I don't normally come on here to moan and groan ,like a lot of you do,but I think the main problems at the moment are. the scene no longer under ground , main problem the 40s and 50 + folk don't want to go to pubs and pay £3.00 plus a pint, when they can go to the local WMC/Welfare and pay £2.20, and it just so happens there's music and dancing and its not full of bloody kids falling out, and looking for trouble,. too many Handbaggers because of the reasons stated above too many do's, we all know this But then again if you choose the venues you like ,and stick to em,there are still many great nights to be had, keep the kids out, stuff this daft new blood idea, cos it just wont work.if a do is full of kids/new blood ,I wont go ,I want to go to a venue because its full of like minded folk, not handbaggers and kids Bazza
  10. Cant remember this place at all,in fact never heard of it . Bazza talking of the Fountain, any one remember a couple of chaps Pat Brady, used to have longish hair in ringlets all natural so he sez Pat Keegan, always sloshed or stoned very early 70s time not seen any of em for 30 odd years Bazza
  11. Hi Steve, from my first post ,it should have been obvious it was a light hearted wind up ,but some folk always take things too seriously , Bazza
  12. you sure they are the right lyrics Kev Bazza
  13. you can not define soul, but Ill give you an example of what I mean the four tops bernedette....soul loco in acapulco ...pop record Have been known to be wrong though Bazza Just adding to this, some may say they are both pop records and some may say they are soul, its as feeling,a personal thing to some extent
  14. I never said that,I said that particular record, in my opinion is a pop record, and yes it has no soul,I never said Denise LaSelle, has no soul, you making it up as you go along Bazza
  15. This tune is a typical example of when the scene went off the rails a bit,now although its a nice tune, its got no soul at all ,its a modern pop tune, just my opinion of it Bazza
  16. I know we say tongue in cheek, 1969 midnight, was the day it all changed , the change was from the raw sound of the 60s to the mushy " Modern " sound of the 70s , and it was around the late 60s to the early 70s ,if you cant tell the differerance from a 60s to a 70s tune .....get your lugholes washed out .... Bazza
  17. You dont get it it do you, , you just dont get it .. ,BTW, I dont hate all " Modern " tunes I,E, stuff made after 1969, quite like some of em,but I prefer the 60s sound . Bazza
  18. Well I think the differance between a 60s tune and a 70's plus tune is obvious, the Raw warts an all sound of the 60s compared to the multi track, over produced, too smooth and perfect sound of the 70s, for me its the 60s sound, no contest Bazza

At the risk of upsetting the Soul police,in fact no chuff em , I think you have made some good points, and I agree with em,but Im at the bottom of the food chain.... just a punter that loves to get out have a dance, and enjoy myself Bazza
  20. of course it will........why do you ask its obvious Bazza
  21. Thats the one .....dunno what he's getting at though Bazza
  22. Your right of course ,I was stretching it a bit.with the 1972 bit , Bazza
  23. Sure thats not the case Mand Bazza
  24. Deffinition of a "Modern" Tune Now I of course realize that any thing made after 1972 at 11:59pm on the 31st of December, is a (spit) Modern tune, but for some reason some folks dissagree with me no idea why but I am right arnt I ???? Bazza
