Just sounds like the usual warbling tripe to me Bazza
  2. You know this is true, when I was 17,18,19,there were some fantastic dancers, the youngsters see some of us old farts, and think " I can do that " no disrespect to the young dancers of to day,but the are just not in the same street as some of us were back in the day, they just dont know how to do it ,they dont have the benchmark dancers we had, and I dont mean bloody spins and gymnastics Bazza
  3. I think you may have something there Bazza
  4. Majestics - I love her so much (it hurts) never ever get tired of hearing it,yes its a played out oldie...dont care I love at as much now as when I first heard it Bazza
  5. Spins and gymnastics, give me a break,as Mel sez Yawn Bazza
  6. Yes Mark, funny thing, I had never heard the "Temptations - Who you gonna run to" before ,but I thought to my self " this is what its all about" felt like a kid again ,gave me a shiver, could'nt beleive I didnt know it ,nice post BTW Bazza
  7. Well I think we are both right .. Bazza
  8. Trevski, I understand what your saying, but not sure I agree ,the scene as we knew /know it did'nt suddenly appear in 1972, I suppose it boils down to when you first discovered the scene, mid 70's on it was more underground, late 60's early 70's it was'nt Bazza
  9. Just a mo,this statement is wrong, all though many on here belive it to be so,the scene started out as Club soul, usually uptempo black music ,with some blue eyed soul R&B Ska and Reggae, in one big mix, ( the good old days bye the way ) ,it didnt develope into "rare soul and northern" untill the early to mid 70's.it was not underground it was what was being played in the clubs in the early days you either stuck with it or went Disco ,Funk or whatever Bazza
  10. The big question is,do we want to keep our scene alive or stop the music fading away The scene as we know it now ,I give it ten years tops, its going to die but to keep the music alive, I think attitudes about the media format Vinyl , CD , Mp3 , may have to change drastically ,there will always be collectors, but the next generation of DJ's wiil they have the Vinyl....I think not Bazza
  11. As for the original question, I dont think our scene will ever be attractive to the younger generation to keep our music alive ,it has to be done as follows 1, it has to be run by youngsters 2, get rid of the badge "Northern Soul". call it Classic club soul ...or summat 3,a nice air conditioned Venue the words Northern soul, working mens club, miners welfare,, give the youngster the impression its full of old codgers doing the wedding reception dance thats my take on it Bazza Just adding, not that sure about number one, debatable, maybe be seen to be run by youngsters
  12. This is was what I was refering to Rachael, I know thats not what you meant Bazza
  13. Yep ,think you may have taken it the wrong way Alex,Rachael didnt mean what you thought she meant you may have noticed a post from me earlier in the thread, stating I dont want kids in do's Etc I have seen you out and about Alex ,and you would know me.I know you have a passion for our music what I should have said was, I dont want none soul lovers in Do's ,the sort that come in cos the beers cheap, just to get pissed and lark about I would always welcome you Alex, Bazza
  14. Mandy,av you forgot to take your medication again Bazza
  15. Well , to be honest I could'nt give a monkeys, in fact I would prefer not to have Kids in the do's, doing the pogo or whatever usually pissed ,spilling bear on my shoes, and generally being complete Tw*ts, ,bugger em ,let em rediscover the music them selves, I dont want em oh dear is that how I really feel..............YEP Bazza
  16. Any one pm me an mp3 of this great tune, please Bazza
  17. Nice tune Bazza
  18. Ay... true , very true Bazza
  19. First went to the Palais, about 38 years ago ,great memories of it,Bali-Hi ,nearly fell off the floor a few times ,great great old ballroom, would be there in a flash if they started a soul do' again Bazza
  20. Thou shalt always wear black clobber Just made that one up,thats my eleventh commandment Bazza
  21. Thanks for the info....having a listen now Bazza
  22. Nope, for once I dont think your talking Bollox, the scene as we know it will die with our generation, feel sure of it,it may be rediscovered in some form ,at a later date by some youngsters and they will make it ther own , the vinyl only side of it wiil not be a part of it at all this will sound none P-C, but I when I go out, I dont want to see a load of kids at my local do' they dont have the right attitude and or etticuette and if there is any sort of trouble at a do' you usually find some kids are at the bottom of it sad but true Bazza
  23. I would'nt let the Mrs anywhere near my pantaloons, with an Iron I mean , they would look like a set of train tracks Bazza As for the question, why not,as long as they have every thing tied down dont want em putting any bodies eye out
  24. Well I keep reading this thread thinking about it ,ive been a dancer since the late 60's and I can honestly say back in the day ,I was one of the best dancers on the scene ,past few years Ive had to change my style completley, from a traditional "northern" style to a more of an R&B style of dance but even now when I dance I put every thing I can in to it I absolutley love dancing, all ways will, just have to be a bit more selective in what I dance to ,getting too bloody old Bazza
