  1. I have loads of mp3s on my harddrive (most of them ripped from vinyl), and I´m going to delete many of them, but before I do I might as well upload them here, since some of them may be of interest to other forum members. So here we go... Best, Melismo
  2. Thanks Jonte! Downloading right now. Do you by any chance have a tracklist for this mix? Cheers M
  3. Mine is also on Freewebs: www.freewebs.com/melismo Regards Melismo
  4. I have that album, but don´t think I´ve ever actually listened to it, so will have to do that now. Gutted to hear about his death. Buddy Miles is one of my favourite artists. So versatile, having a go (successfully) at so many different genres of music. Digging out some Electric Flag, Buddy Miles Express, old solo albums, newer CDs etc. Will treat myself to lots of Buddy Miles during the next few days. Always loved his powerful singing, his lively drumming, highly respected his songwriting skills etc. R.I.P. Buddy Miles
  5. Hi Barry! Cheers for posting playlist and soundfile! Enjoyed the show - in particular the Ben Wiggins and Charles Johnson. Best regards Melismo

An Atlantic album filled with inferior disco blandness came out in 1979, although many of the tracks were recorded in 1978. However, there is one soul tune, last track on side one of the LP. It´s called "My Feelings For You". That one is quite ok methinks. It has a very long intro before the vocals start, male as well as female vocals, could be one of the Ingram sisters singing on that one. Cheers Melismo

Steve, I´ve posted comments on another forum, but not sure if you´re a member there. Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your selection of old stuff. Quality tuneage! Nick, a fine set of new tunes featured on the show! Proves that soul music is very much alive today. Cheers Melismo
  8. Fab show - enjoyed every minute of it! All the best Melismo
  9. Thanks Bj¶rn for the feedback - much appreciated! I´ve received a couple of PMs regarding the following track, so shortly I´ll be posting it here as a separate refosoul clip: Carol Williams - Just Feel More about the tune. It is on a 7", but don´t remember which one. I have it on the album "`Lectric Lady" (Salsoul). Whereas I have the original vinyl I am aware that it has also been reissued in CD format, so in that way the track itself should be fairly easy to get hold of. The CD also features bonus cuts in the form of extended 12" versions of some of the uptempo songs. BTW, when it comes to "Just Feel" there´s a misprint on the original vinyl LP. Different info given on the sleeve and on the actual record label as to the title of that song. More info on Carol Williams here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_Williams A new Soul Comp (#3) coming soon! Cheers Melismo
  10. Hi! Have you got it sorted yet? If not I can help you. Let me know if you still need it. "I Will Fight" is on CBS from 1981, included on the Gladys Knight & The Pips LP Touch. Best, Melismo
  11. Any requests for upcoming comps? If I have it, I´ll include it! Feel free to PM me... As said before, I´m currently just messing around with my newly bought USB-turntable and Audacity software. Having a bit of fun Best, Melismo

  13. Cheers Barry for posting playlist and download! Enjoyed the show as always. In particular Spinners, Green Brothers, Jimmy Preacher Robins, James Moore and Jackie Milton. Regards, Melismo
  14. Hi, Mik! Don´t know if you´ve already got it sorted, but I´ve posted the Solar Heat track in the post above. The LP is still very cheap. Don´t hesitate to pick it up. A great album all the way through. I personally consider Bo "Beau" Williams one of the best singers of that era, the late-70´s-early-80´s. All the best Melismo
  15. Once again, cheers for the feedback Here´s "DJ Melismo Soul Comp Vol. 2"! 60 mins of music. Click below to download: https://rapidshare.com/files/9183252..._Vol_2.mp3.html Another concept this time around, a few slowies, for example the first two tracks, but as a whole a lot more uptempo danceable music in this selection. The oldest tune included: COMPLAMENTS - Falling In Love (Dakar, 1977) The newest one: CHARLIE COATS - Tonight (Aviday, 1992) Will compile a complete playlist later if you´re interested. Any feedback welcome. All the best Melismo
  16. Solomon Burke - Get Out Of My Life Woman

I think I have the Gary Glenn, Luther Vandross, Howard Johnson and Alvarez. When I find the time I can do mp3s of those for you. Glad to help If someone beats me to it, please let me know. All the best Melismo
  19. Yes, the LP cut is also 5:07. Album reissued on vinyl in 2001. Best, Mel
  20. In my sparetime I sing, play various instruments, write songs etc. Some audio samples from my CD here: https://www.freewebs.com/melismo/cd.htm Cheers Melismo
  21. DJ Melismo Soul Comp Vol. 1 Well, just me playing around with my USB-turntable and Audacity software. Put together a comp featuring some of the tracks that have been gracing my turntables in my home during the last few days. Mainly modern soul from mid-70´s to mid-80´s. No rare stuff, but a couple of them a tad bit obscure or underplayed, all of them good ´uns IMHO Click here to download: https://rapidshare.com/files/90163669/DJ_Me..._Vol_1.mp3.html Hope there´s something in there that you like... Best, Melismo
  22. All concerts with a bad sound system. I´ve been to soul concerts where I can hear the band, but not the singer(s)! When it comes to the modern end of the soul spectrum: Alexander O´Neal created a scandal over in Stockholm. He was under the influence of drugs, and actually fell asleep on stage. Bilal, when performing in Malmo, close to where I live, was such an introvert, unable to communicate with the audience. BTW, it´s been stated so many times that Marvin Gaye hated performing live. How many of you have experienced him live and what did you think? Best, Mel from Sweden
  23. For me: Donny Hathaway. He had the technique, the emotion, the range, he has influenced so many, from Stevie Wonder to Usher Raymond, he´s Aretha Franklin´s favorite singer... "A Song For You" is perfect soul music in my book! Best, M
  24. Cheers Jez! And now over to something completely different... I know that some people into southern soul are raving about the following: David G - Creeping https://cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/davidg-09.m3u David G - Private Party https://cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/davidg-04.m3u
  25. No, not a Mac user. Will try again next time you´re on, hopefully better luck then. Tried to open stream with Windows Media Player as well as Real Player. Cheers, Melismo
