  3. sorry to hijack, but that's one of four great ones i know of on the detroit aquarius: domestic five soul in-pressions ultimate ovation can't recall fourth one...red label instead of multicolored...sweet soul backed with funk instrumental... anyone know any other releases??
  4. obviously i'm not THAT smart, as i've allowed myself to be drawn into this nonsense. a record tip for you, though, james: metros, "time changes things" (rca)...you should be able to pick it up for around a tenner.
  5. a hypothetical question for the troubleman: what if, all other circumstances in your tale being the same, the dj had played instead the well-known, cheap metros' version of the song (which to my ears isn't significantly worse than the willie kendrick)? what would your reaction to that have been? would a mid-spin needle lift have been in order??
  6. oh, my gosh, this is one of the most unintentionally hilarious things i've seen in months. man up, james. could you be any more self-important?
  7. it is the same tuba, though, yes. novelty record. tuba released soul, jazz, folk, gospel, pop, and this one. mickey shorr was a detroit record/audio retailer whose business was next door to the tuba/music merchants office for a time. hey may have been a radio dj too.
  8. on Bar outta Memphis...anyone? you could really take advantage of me with this record....

it's got that andre williams sound through and through...flip is "bassology"
  10. curious...what'd the dorothie berrie go for?
  11. strange...doesn't show up on any google searches or ebay searches....usually you'll find a strange google hit or two for a closed ebay auction....not on popsike either. it's definitely black. strong male lead with falsetto group. i played it on my radio show a year ago, about 46 minutes in, i think: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/20018 hard to categorize the sound. doesn't have a northern feel but is an uptempo dancer...
  12. Anyone know this one? Ohio record, on Pork. Uptempo dancer A-side, "When Your Love Say Goodbye." Ballad B, "Don't Put Off for Today..." I've had it for years, can't remember where/when I got it, think it's pretty damn good, and have never seen another.
  13. closing within the hour!!
  14. item # 180149293002
  15. now on ebay, item 180149293002
  16. er, i may just barricade myself in my apartment with my records forever now.
  17. yeah, them two. okay, deal. mik, warren? counteroffer?
  18. hey, jo, bring those two birds you know round with you, all three of you in maid (or nurse or cheerleader) outfits, and we'll talk.
  19. ha. i can't even find the fucker. it hasn't surfaced in over six months....buried in my living room (or kitchen? or bedroom?) somewhere....
  20. seriously, mick? i had no idea! glad i didn't sell it, then. i just told him that i like to hold on to oddball things at those low prices because i need a variety of sounds for the radio show.
  21. hmmm....someone offered me $10-$15 for mine a few months ago, then upped it to $75. i decided to hold on to it. seems like a few people are after it. is someone playing it?
  22. so no one wants this beautiful rare gem? hmmm.
  23. Weingarden replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
well, i got one from you many years ago, then soon found another elsewhere. held both for a while before trading one to pomonkey for way too little. i somehow assumed it wasn't too rare, since i'd found TWO without really looking.
  24. Weingarden replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
    i've had two too!
  25. "I Know What Love Is All About"/"She Put Me Down" Rarest of the rare! Have decided to part with my copy. Looking for a good offer or it goes up on ebay soon. Condition: on a M-/VG+/VG scale, "I Know" (dance side) is VG++; "She Put" (ballad side) is VG+ with some surface noise (a good twirl on the vacuum record cleaner might quiet it down some, but it's very playable and enjoyable regardless). Beautiful glossy copy with clean labels that have a bit of ring wear. Where have you ever seen this in ANY condition, though? Anyone?
