  1. GoodTaste: besides you, me, dante, and shadow, i don't know.
  2. hey, GoodTaste...not too many copies of that record in your avatar floating around, are there....
  3. don't think i'd ever heard that later version. besides the cymbal, it has extra drum fills all over the place and that simple rhythm guitar stroke....i'm not convinced it's better! people dance their asses off to the other version at my night and start whooping and hollering as soon as it starts, but this is the u.s.....
  4. what a great record. i even like the other side. bmi is NOT a good source for this kind of information. they are every bit as likely to be wrong as right with shared names. anyone thinking this kind of listing on bmi is "authoritative" is misguided.
  5. can't help you with the record, i'm afraid, liam...but he'll be performing this one live (along with "you were meant for me" and more) this friday in brooklyn. see info in calendar section. m
  6. hate to say it, but i think i want it more.
  7. okay, just listened again. REALLY prefer syl's (or whoever's) voice to ol' nate's. if i had this version, i don't think i'd be selling it. to each his own, i guess.
  8. also have a m- johnny howard "the chase is on" on bashie promo up for grabs...

  10. accepting offers for one day on the following. paypal only. 1. 107TH STREET STICKBALL TEAM, "On Old Broadway"/"Mojo Shingaling" (Dorado). Beautiful, shiny copy, near perfect labels, vinyl is just a couple scuffs shy of M-. 2. CORBY & THE CHAMPAGNE, "I'll Be Back"/"Time Marches On" (Compass). M-. 3. WILLIE HOOKS, "Take It Easy on Me Baby"/"A Little More Time" (Soul World). M-. 4. IKE LOVELY, "I Want It All"/"You're My Bad Habit" (Capitol promo). M-. 5. NATE EVANS, "Main Squeeze"/"Pardon My Innocent Heart" (Twinight promo). Stunning midtempo Chicago 70s with a brilliant deepie on the flip. Strong VG (on a M-/VG+/VG scale; music is loud and clear with some surface crackle and scattered clicks, nothing horrendous, plenty of life left and fine for DJ'ing). PLEASE EMAIL ME ONLY!!! FINEWINE@WFMU.ORG. NO PM'S!!! thanks, matt
  11. he doesn't want hip snap; he doesn't want hippest snappest. what he wants is hipper snapper!
  12. definitely a different singer. i prefer this hitherto-unknown version! could well be syl. great find, bob. strange to find this thread, because i JUST pulled out my nate evans with the intent to sell it (see sales board). m
  13. saxie now gone...oh, when i say "strong vg" on the spitting image, that's on a scale that does NOT include ex.
  14. those are the best. i also LOVE the flip of you were meant for me, mary lou, a remake of one he'd done for modern or flair (can't remember) a few years earlier. now a standard covered by the likes of bob seger. the other mercury sides have a great sound but are a little more noveltyish: my country cousin, teacher gimme back.... there's some earlier stuff that's quite good, some in almost a rock-and-roll vein: hot dog, hit git & split, rabbit on a log, i smell a rat. favorites from that era are well baby and do you love me. m
