Eddie Regan or should I say "John Madara Play the game of love", And Sam playing the wonderful Betty Fikes. And a gorgeous dark skinned girl from Norwich, I think, all of us from Southampton were in love with. Great times.

Last Time The Hammers had a decent defence was '74 Taff. lol
  5. Solar Radio. Essential listening for whatever type of black music you're into. Heard more great records of all types on there that I did'nt know then I could shake a stick at. Long may it reign!!
  6. Oh for the 70's again. Barbera Mills UK demo at Holborn Record fair on the way back from St Ives, oh yeah 30p. Few months later Cajun Hart demo. Gospel Classics demo. Used to go to a deaker in South London a lot. Shane Martin, Jackie Day etc, regular as clockwork. Where's a tardis when you need one?
  7. I have a Chess dj copy mint minus. It has a small quarter inch crack that you cannot hear once the music starts. £40 all in if you want it mate. Paypal as a gift please. Let me know. Best wishes Dave

As usual, I'm late joining a thread. At the risk of coming across as a great big tart, (soft Southern Jessie) to all our friends north of Watford, I'll bet I'm not the only person who fills up just listening to any great record, Northern, deep whatever, when I'm driving on my own. The reason being, one day I'm not going to be able to hear this music of ours anymore, see the great friends I've made. That makes me cry!! Let's all enjoy every moment while we can. Right! I'm off to ring the Samaritans now. Morbid Dave.
  9. Little bit late on this. Just heard the terrible news on Clive R on Solar Radio. Ron posessed a juggernaut of a voice and enhanced so many fantastic songs. Thanks for the music Ron, sleep well.
  10. B****cks! Forgot all about it. Did anybody see what it went for. And much more importantly would anybody consider selling one, assuming anybody out there owns a copy. Thanks Dave
  11. Getting back to the original topic. JM had one on auction some eighteen months ago as I remember. Made well over two hundred as I recall. Perhaps one fifty is a bit conservative by todays standards.
  12. Here's one if you like string laden instrumentals of dubious origin. An old Winstanley spin from wigan The Arctic Strings "Turn me on" on Andee. I love it!

Not much help I know but mine came from Tim Ashibende about fifteen years ago. He tracked down Ray Dahrouge the producer, Tim would have asked him the right questions, was it issued etc. Try contacting "colouredman" on here.
  14. If anybody watches Paramount comedy on Sky check out "Becker" starring Ted Danson. His receptionist called Margaret is played by a certain Hattie Winston. Thinking "Pass me by" on Parkway. Bifg black lady, late fifties I guess, and she sang in one episode.
  15. I've never met you Pete or John but is'nt this what the good side of the scene is about? You'll have mine in five minutes. Well done!
  16. For an album that looks pretty common this one has eluded me for years. Nice clean copy wanted please. Must have the above track. PM or email dgreet211@btinternet.com Many thanks and have a great Xmas everyone. Dave
  17. Sounds nice. Did you put the instrumental on by mistake?
  18. Had the pleasure of knowing Alan and dj'ing with him at the Hitsville Weekenders. Lovely bloke, very knowlegeable and a pleasure to be in his company. Perhaps dedication to Soul is'nt measured by how many records you've got but by your actions. I will never forget Alan hauling himself to Florida to meet the Harthon production team, when most of us, in his state of health, would'nt have made it to the corner shop! God bless mate. Dave
  19. John Manship sold it on auction a couple of years ago. I think Mick Holdsworth from Wolvo paid about nine hundred for it. A true rarest of the rare as far as 33's go. Tony Ellis from London has a copy, used to play it at Yate.
  20. There was one on here for two grand about a year ago. I got it for fifteen hundred. I wish you a lot of luck at six hundred!
  21. Does anybody have a Bobby Bland "Yum Yum Tree" demo for sale. I just missed one off Mick Smith at Cleethorpes for £25. I'll give £35 for a nice clean pink one. OOh matron!!
  22. Not strictly relevant but interesting. I had the jawdropping pleasure of meeting Sammy, Ron and Eddie on Kev Roberts Soul Trip to New York, a couple of years ago. They told me the record was actually cut in Greenwich Village, not New Jersey.
  23. Bloody hell Sean! Where did you dig up that Betty Fikes video from? Fantastic!!
  24. Guilty as charged.
