  1. another couple to discuss thomas bailey "just won';t move" federal. I consider this one super rare and have never owned this record. benny lattimore "i'm a believer" dade certainly scarce
  2. how do you mean not related I always though this was the same group as on fine ? anbd until that small find in australia the fine release must have been a very rare record. It still is very rare IMO.

    Now SOLD thanks for interest.
  4. is statue considered a big label. One record that eluded me for a very long time was Loyd (lloyd) Hendricks "hooked by love / don't cry no more" There is reference to copy on popsike for around 70 quid but I think that is way top cheap it seems quite tricky. "Hooked" is a gritty southern version of the classic homer banks track and realy packs as puch as does the superb flip side with a terrific drum break. Could also be a candidate for a record that deserves to big big in 2012 i've never heard this played out.
  5. this is a good thread lets keep it going...........
  6. Possibly it slipped under my radar. When I was properly loking for records I only saw a handful of these and always had it down as a realy tough record to turn up.
  7. That confirms what I always thought about sam williams. Thanks. High prices and demand don't always equal rare.
  8. jhoie hicks with the other flip is a realy tough one and its fantastic as well.
  9. It took me years to get my copy but then oddly I managed to get a 2nd soon after. I believe in your categories it is certainly scarce and may even be rare. its a once a year on ebay type sound at a guess. but when a couple sold for high prices it did bring a couple more our of the woodwork. for me its a deep soul holy grail one of the very best. i'm not sure if future stars is classed as a big label but the willie johnson issue is another what i'd call a holy grail and rare record although i've been told there are a few in Japan.
  10. I don't believe this fits into your definition of scarce.
  11. that is interesting you don't think tony ashley "i'll go crazy" decca is a scarce or rare record ? just interested in your opinion.
  12. you are in for a real treat when you ckeck out his 45 bioth sides are fantastic. Then its well worth going on to listen to as many other peachtree 45s as you can its a great label.
  13. I also felt I had to respond to my initial post as I also thought I was being a bit too negative.
  14. I do enjoy the site and continue to read and comment in threads but there are a few topics that I ignore now as they are done to death. I'm sure I must've started a few threads I(hopefully interesting to some) in my time on here and have enjoyed the deep soul swaps and taken part in a least 4 of the recent ones.
  15. There are about 4 or 5 topics that get continually discussed time and time again and in between them we get a few interesting threads.
  16. no pete likes it as well. I think its rubbish.

This is all news to me, I went to the first few lifelines but never realised things got so bad towards the end of the venues life. The stables is a better venue though IMO. Just right for an all nighter.
  18. Joe Jama was covered as Little Henry because Henry Atkinson discovered it and sold it to Tim.
  19. I agree, in a ideal word the best way to buy records would be physically face to face but sometimes it can be a hassle having to look after a box of records all night, unless the record bar is buzzing and lots of deals are taking place I've spent hours in record bars and find them good for a chat and to learn and listen. Also face to face you can probably negotiate better than by e-mail or PM.
  20. No i've still got it which is no bad thing. Will look to put out a small list later in the month and if something goes off that then this can be kept. Prehaps didn't sell because its not northern and that seems to be the main target audience on here. I have read a few comments about some unissued material that was going to go on an epic LP but i've never heard any of it.
  21. Has butch had a rethink on retireing or just delayed the decision a bit ? will he be doing other UK gigs still as well as the 100 club ?
  22. I'd be interested to hear the opinions of people like Steve G on the annette snell issue on epic with "promises should never be broken" on the flip side. I did recently list it for sale and believe its a very hard issue to find so would be good to hear the views of a long time collector. Gareth commented he hadn't heard it so that tells me it must be pretty tricky.
  23. WOW !! To be honest I haven't been in the game of looking properly for a while now. BUt when I was looking I would've snapped your hand off at that price.
  24. Thats a brilliant record. I've never seen that for sale.
