  1. Edward Hamilton And The Arabians - Baby Don't You Weep
  2. Richard Berry & The Pharaohs- Have Love Will Travel
  3. It was a 1964 flop when first released, love the track but sadly played far too often that it lost its impact. Wouldn't it bit great to have heard it for the first time at a massive venue like Wigan, I did not but I can imagine the impact of that drum roll intro followed by that beat that you can not ignore, ace dancer, super record! It is a testament to Richard Searling who spun it first at Va Va's in Bolton (Got all this from Wikipedia so no insight claims for me). Sadly it is no longer played and it may have been the first ever "Divvy" record? Be nice to hear and dance to it, I don't think I have ever danced to it?? Good choice parkash
  4. Kenni Smith - Lord Whets happening top selection tabs!!!

  6. Gonna be greedy and add another, no another two! The second track to hear before you die is one that Martin Bird "from Hull" loves and he is one of my Northernsoul heroes, the track is The Tomangoes "I really love you", Martin was stood with Gerry at Middleton, he won't remember the conversation but he told me that he would love to hear another The Tomangoes "I really love you", I went home and played it hearing such a perfect tune and one that I had never paid too much attention too just blew me away. My third offering is Lou Rawls I'll See You When I Get There, we had all gone to The Twisted Wheel, very oldies tilted and I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I should have? I cam home in a convoy of three cars crossing over the Pennines on The Woodhead Pass and we stopped at the dog and Partridge for a drink. It was a mega day, we all had such a giggle and found our selves saying goodbye in the car park after our stop. For some crazy reason we all started singing along to Lou Rawls I'll See You When I Get There and dancing and giggling to the chorus, daft as it may sound, these are the moments that stay with me and memories that are cherished and enjoyed with the musical accompaniment of what we call Northernsoul.
  7. Rhino and Epic, now that is cheep as chips! I was expecting some mammoth price!! Mega record and one I will look forward to shakin my tail feathers too! Any one know who has been playing it?
  8. This sounds like a Casino track!!! I love it!!!!! But then again I allways was a bit of a Div
  9. 100 Records you should hear before you die Just skipping around youtube and listening to some of the wonderful tracks found on there but with such a huge myriad of top class tunes its often good to have a recommendation so what would you choose to recommend to some one? I'm not going to try to be high brow or clever but I want to recommend a Terry Callier track I first heard when he toured the UK, I went out and bought as many of his CD's that I could find and fell in love with "Gotta Get Closer To You", to my knowledge it hasn't been played on the scene? It deserves to be danced to and enjoyed so it is Terry Callier Gotta Get Closer To You that I am selecting as the first "100 Records you should hear before you die", What's your choice and why?
  10. How many Northernsoul tracks have we got with a religious theme? MAN OF VALUE by The Del Royals And of course Tyrone Barkley, I'm not even sure that the Del Royals version was played on the scene, is it the original? And didn't Lou Rawls do it as well? Terry Callier - I Don't Want To See Myself
  11. Little Peggy March - I will follow him Heard this on TV the other night, at least part of it and I started to wonder if I had ever heard it played on the Northernsoul Scene? I love it!
  12. mikecook thank you
  13. Has any one else ever seen either Ady Croasdale's or Dave Rimmer's likeness appear in fruit or veg?
  14. Petebangor, don't Soul Source rock!!!! Teddy's track is like a fookin cream egg! Too slow to dance to, no matter what Theresa says!
  15. Thanks Simon
  16. Is there a connection to this track with Teddy Pendergrass?
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xtsqd82fEc&feature=related I think this was the version Theresa? Top dancer!!! Lurv it!!!! Just have three more Modern spins to ID now
  18. Theresa Ooooooh you are a clever thing!!!! Spot on!!!!!!! XXXX Ron Hall - The Way You Love Me Good angel, the only time I ever talk to a DJ is to ask for "The Snake", as you well know lol! Posstot :-)
  19. Eddie Parker's "I'm Gone" The Hesitations - That's what Love is Richard Searling, spun Eddie Parker's "I'm Gone" at Wigan and we seam to have a dust off with this track and have done for some time on the nighter scene, the record features a mega lyric "Its all over like a three leaf clover", simply marvelous! The Hesitations - That's what Love is features "I'm Gone's" music without the thump! How does this happen, the same music, is it from the same record company? I know there are loads of examples of this sort of thing but I would like to know about these two? Could some one add the files??
  20. Soul Source!!!!!
  21. Driving into the car park, looking at my watch to find its well past midnight then looking up to see a procession of people entering the do carrying nighter bags! Nods, hugs n stuff, dumping my bag, waking the room, smiling at friends, feeling comfortable in my skin, hearing that needle hit the groove and knowing that most are in bed................. Don't get more iconic than that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsxZe8ZidyM
  22. No mate , I think its only a few years old????
  23. I did my last ever (well I thought it was going to be my last ever) allnighter at Benson's Bier Keller prior to joining the Army, Benson's was our favorite and five of us would regularly drive there from Hull. Sean Kearny, Mark Robinson and I were all hooked on the place. Queens Hall was a up front venue with The Big EZ down stairs were the newest tracks played uneasily below the more acceptable sounds spinning upstairs but too be brutally honest the down stairs room was never quite as successful as it should have been? The music lacked a bit of direction? I loved this whole era for Northernsoul because there was a shaking of the blanket, Bradford should get a slice of credit for continuing to battle showing the new side to our cult and not getting into a siege mentality when so many of the so called "I love Northernsoul Soulies" had fled like rats on a sinking ship.
  24. Help ID this Modern floor filler Heard it all over Sorry first of all because I can only remember three words but and explanation first, it's an up tempo belter that seams to excite every one on the floor with its dramatic blast of "I LOVE YOU" as the chorus. The "I LOVE YOU" bit is repeated as an excaudate, almost sounding like I I I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU.............. Any clues?
  25. Katrina, I'm only 27!!!
