  1. "Bump" Ending this evening. Sound clips added for Master Force.
  2. Ending this weekend a few items from an old soul pack purchased in the early 80s and stored away almost ever since. Includes Master Force - Hey Girl / Don't Fight The Feeling on Rain Forest! Soulvation Army/Flora Wilson Admirations Scientists Of Soul The Dreams Norma Jenkins and a few others ebay link
  3. I am reading Roger Pruter's "Chicago Soul". In it he states that One-derful set up at 2642 South Michigan but by '64 they had moved to 1827 South Michigan. I saw a copy of Beverly Shaffer "Even the Score" on ebay with the 2642 address. But this record came out late 65 (early 66?) and other One-derful releases around the same time I have seen have the 1827 address on the label. So what does this mean for this Beverly Shaffer single? - A boot? - One-derful using old label stock? Any ideas?
  4. If you've had too many paracetamols and need to restore your headache a De-Vel in original company sleeve should do the trick:
  5. As many have mentioned: Guralnick's "Sweet Soul Music". Essential reading imho. Also for Philly soul history try "A House On Fire: The Rise & Fall of Philidelphia Soul" (John A Jackson). And for a slightly different perspective how about "Last Night A DJ saved My Life" (Bill Brewster & Frank Broughton).
  6. But hang on, why only a little hole? UK re-issue? 78? did US 45s have little holes in the 50s?
  7. Stick "tune town" "ike turner" into google and all will be revealed: c.1958 I immediately thought Little Ann would be Tarheel Slim's mrs, but no it seems it was Tina Turner's first appearance on a 45.
  8. I was talking about the LP, not a 45 of "So Rare" which I don't think exists. Sorry if I misled you Tom. You can find a scan of the (my ) LP here https://darcysfeelit.blogspot.com/2006/07/p...-is-virtue.html To clear up a couple of earlier comments: Can You Feel It was VOEH last album (not "the first rare album"). The tracklisting on the cover of my LP does not agree with with the actual record. The CD version (on Amazon at least) reproduces the LP cover tracklisting, but I don't know if the CD itself mirrors that. The original LP tracklisting (and the one on reissued LP too as far as I can tell) is: Side 1 1.Can You Feel It 2.Amazing Love 3.Just Got To Be Myself 4.Rare So Rare 5.Jimmy Joe Lee Side 2 1.Take A Stand 2.Take A Little Time To Love 3.March Across The Land 4.Can You Feel It Pt II Jimmy Joe Lee is another great track. 9. Bought my copy back in the 70s (77?) for pennies in Cheltenham. Got it home to find it was warped so badly it was just about unplayable. Put it away and pulled it out of the collection again only a couple of years ago to find the warp had all but disappeared. Result - a storage warp in reverse! 'So Rare' is such a great track. And yes on Just Sunshine.
  10. These Parliaments maybe another group but nevertheless it could be said that down the years Little Archie has been as spaced out as George Clinton: https://goarchie.com/aashid/aashbio.html

Here's "Loser's Seat" - it sounds like the actual Parliaments "Goodies" backing track - but who is Joni? and why on Volt? (hope this link works) joni_wilson_seat.mp3

I have just taken delivery of Denise LaSalle "Keep it Coming"/"Trapped By A Thing Called Love" Westbound W-182 stock copy with W-1462-A CANADIAN LTD , then your "Mik" what looks more like a fancy M followed by HC to me. Looks like handwriting, don't know how to tell it's been stamped but in handwritten font. Thought it unusual, popped it into google and found this post. Cheers Candiman
  14. Possibly a spanner in the works but Swamp Dogg's site https://www.swampdogg.net/profile.html states that his "Straight From The Heart" on the Swamp Dogg Presents label was the first ever 12" in 1971???? On 7" that single didn't come out 'til 73. But even so 1973 would predate any of the usual suspects. Would you want to argue with the Dogg? Candiman
