Don't get me wrong I'm a member of a few and have had my own in the past, I also understand that many people are happy to be a part of them.... ...but...surely after a while you realise that....you end with a Casinelli's group that ends up posting the same as a Mecca group that ends up posting the same as a Wigan group. They all...and I mean all...end up posting a stream of overplayed, overheard classics...,if I see fecking Moody Woman roll down my feed with the reply 'Ace!' one more time , I'm relocating.

That's what I like though, it's kinda nice to be immersed in the good and the odd of the 60's for an hour or so.

I recently picked up a Van Dykes SMLFARD issue in great nick for £25, the lad had it listed as the Van Dyes.

Went into Manchester last night to Gorilla to see St Paul & The Broken Bones, a seven piece from Birmingham Alabama. The influence from Muscle Shoals, Stax is clearly evident, big bold and brassy. Lead singer St Paul is a slightly chubby Alan Carr lookalike with a voice that could split wood, stark and soulful....he could have been a comedian as it goes, funny guy. Me and Rich Francis did an interview/photo shoot last Sunday for a London publication done by a group of young London kids and aimed at the fashions of the NS scene bitd. We had pre-warned them that we were babies on the scene in 1980 and if they needed to talk to the laymans idea of a Soulie and what they wore then to centre their attentions on the 55+ lads...they still came anyhow. Great people and they knew what they were doing with the camera's etc but didn't seem to have done a great deal of homework on the scene but as they were only around 20 - 22, what do you do, it's quite convoluted ay?. They took shots of memberships, posters etc but got heavily fixated with me old long leather, last worn 1980...I ended up in a field in a Burtons shop window pose with it on....kinda dreading what comes out

I bought this from Ames Records late 70's when they had little NS sections - 7 Dwarves, Bobby Diamond etc etc - it is a different take but has dimples all over it so jumped toward the back end.
