  1. Ooops
  2. Drug addict.
  3. I see the 'crescendo' argument as a false one if I'm honest, it's moved on from that.
  4. Well best they get practising with longer sets Ton.
  5. The Preston Street Dancers were involved on the Boogie scene (as it is now) as well as the nighter scene, I haven't seen any of 'em for years.
  6. I agree, a longer set would make the dj work a little more for their dancefloor - a shorter set surely must contain a jock somewhat. A set at a nighter has always struck me as nothing much more than a showcase hour, a place where certain prized wares go on display and I'm not saying there's anything inheritantly wrong with that - it ensures a top quality set (maybe?). But it kind of restricts the lad/lady playing the records I would have thought - with a longer set he could explore styles and tempo's a little better. On the house scene, you know how long a set can go on for, as the structure of that set - in comparison to a NS set - is completely different - and I've witnessed very few house sets that I believe could rival a random NS set for record for record quality. But the times I have witnessed someone do it correctly, it's been stunning. I don't know if I'm saying that the Soul scene is too caught up with 'flash-frying' it's dancers or that the House scene is in general more able to be lazy with it's delivery. What I am saying is that give people more time and you may get more quality, as when a good balance is reached the results and performance can be fantastic. Don't take this thread as a knock, it'll probably change nothing, it is just here as a conversation piece.

    Straight-talkin' - can't argue with that, fair do's.

If you have read them all mate, maybe, obviously some people haven't - just don't click on 'em and leave the boring drivel in a place you're not.
  9. Oh! And is that long enough do you think?
  10. Just wondering what the script is with a dj's lot at Nighters today?
  11. Hiya love - fine thanks, I've not done an OHS for about a year (got sick of the slog and money-losing ha ha) but we are re-surfacing in Liverpool in the New Year. Love to Kev for me if you would, I take it he's still not lying down wit t'paper and t'slippers. Just to keep the age thing in perspective and as not to make it look like Kev is the only one getting on - when we dropped Terry off at the hotel at 6.15am that morning, poor old Paddy from Skipton slipped off the coach and gave himself a hernia - it'd never of happened when we were kids.

There's another thread Andy as people want to talk about it (yourself included it appears).
  13. This thread's bloody awful.

While I'm on! To what end is the Facebook thingy Simon? Will it change anything do you think or does it make you feel better knowing that you are doing something to 'dumb up' NS? Serious questions Simon, I'm not tekkin' 'tpiss.

If that's the case then I'll bet their agent's were pissed off after the POG Show then?

Hiya Malc, about mate but I've been trying to put together a new night for OHS in the new year, so had to get the message board up and running again and I'm trying to get a site together for it to sit in. Me late nights on here have been curtailed somewhat due to that mate.
  17. I couldn't listen to a whole album of Kenny's on the bounce I don't think mate, buyt that's me. The guys got a brilliant voice, I guess we're not disputing that, the rest is just down to personal taste I reckon.
  18. I know exactly where you're coming from Pete - two sides of a coin, both belters.
  19. Massive production job on The Manhattans version. Luvverly.
  20. Loving the Uniques thing.

Isn't that what they had Dave Evison covered up as in the late 70's?

That's true - I posted it some time last week, there was an interview with him in one of the Sundays' mate.
  23. So could Modern Enthusiasts seen to be suffering from M.E. (Modern Enthusiasm)?
  24. I don't mind Kenny's voice, it is obviously of the right stuff but he does have a habit of 'over' singing a record if you catch my drift. Don't get me wrong I've bought his stuff from the Soundmen On Wax stuff up and still do but his tendency to get a little over involved occassionally gets on me tits.
  25. I think in a straight choice given one more night at Wigan or one more night at the 100's Club - I know where the majority would choose to dust their broom - politics, music and what have you aside.
