  1. No sure if I can get the sound clip to work
  2. Anyone i have one of those dubious white label 45s of Tommy Tate - If you gonna love somebody origins unknown. my question:- does anyone know what the B side is? Sound like ta track called ‘got to get it right this time’ Here’s a clip and some pics White label.mp3
  3. I totally agree - I don’t think anyone is suggesting that this or the others mentioned were authentic acetates etc. I seem to remember this batch of white labels appeared at about the same time in the nineties which would tie in with what you said about the ‘real’ acetates coming to market. That said they aren’t what we would call boots as there were no official releases at the time (‘Suspicion’ did get an official release in 2013 in the Motown 7s Box - Rare And Unreleased Vinyl). There is another white label knocking around with the alternative take (and superior to my ears) of ‘suspicion’ as well. Still amazes me how some of these superb tracks were left in the can. I for one am happy that these whites came to market to enable soul music lovers to here these great tracks.
  4. Anyone I have a white label of unknown nee dubious origin (pics below) It is labelled The Originals - ‘Baby please (have mercy on me)’ but plays The Originals - ‘suspicion’ The B side is Gladys Knight - ‘When somebody loves you’ Are these both unreleased tracks? I believe I acquired these in the 90’s along with other unreleased things like The Lollipops, ‎– Look What You Done Boy / Kim Weston - After The rain Brenda Holloway ‎– I'm On The Right Track / My World Is Crumbling anyone know anything about these ‘dubious’ pieces of vinyl???

The Discogs spiel on The Gems (listed as The Gems (2)) has both Riverside & Chess under the same group. I have no idea about the origins of this info or whether it is accurate Profile: The Gems were a Chicago girl group in the 1960s, led by original lead singer Louise Bethune. The group became the primary backup vocal group for Chess Records. The group also featured Minnie Riperton, who also recorded under the name Andrea Davis, who would go on to a career with the Chicago pscych-rock group Rotary Connection before embarking on a solo career highlighted by her hit song "Lovin' You."

In John Manship’s guide is says Original first press: there is no Deadwax matrix only the title “I never knew” and “I will wait” in the respective run out of each side.(this is my copy!! ) The original 2nd press There is a very lightly scratched small matrix “IN – 6311”. 13. I know it’s not the best record in the world and he can’t sing but... I found this in the boxes. Tony Chambers ‎– Can't Let This Moment Go / Stay Calm, Be Cool And Think Collectively MOPHRES 1131 With a SOLID CENTRE. My question is:- is this a US release that just happens to have been made with a small hole or maybe just not machine cut or is it a non-USA release - maybe UK one (nothing on the label to indicate this). The label is identical to the large hole version. And for convenience here’s the YouTube link https://youtu.be/l_vHB8k0rJ0 My copy and the Discogs photo of the large centre copy.

  21. After having both versions side by side here is what I posted on Discogs Be careful - there are two versions of this LP. They look totally identical - label and sleeve, track listing etc. but one copy has a slow version of the Sadie Sadie track and one has a fast version. The fast version is the one that is getting played. I've had both - here is how to tell Run out groove numbers: 'S-9014A' = slow version 'S-9014A(-2)' = fast version.
  22. Thanks - I found it on Discogs. mystery solved
  23. I found a White label single sided 7” single of:- Collins & Collins - ‘Back by popular demand’ I can’t find any sign of it being released. It sounds a bit Motorcity/ Ian Levine production. Does anyone know the origins of this track and this dubious looking 45?
