Your Favourite Modern Soul Choons ?

Spankingly fine tunes there Joel, except Benny Troy which in my head just launches ten thousand scooter boys dancing like marionettes! Anyway, how's it hanging with you honey? T x

Your Favourite Modern Soul Choons ?

Lovely! My eldest Leon is named after Messrs Haywood, Ware & Huff... not forgetting that most excellent film of the same name. Here's my little Leon. Beeks I'm sure 'Don't push it don't force it, let it happen naturally...' ought to be on the playlist at your naturist northern niter mate.

Your Favourite Modern Soul Choons ?

Ahhh, just read the whole thread - so many fantastic tracks, including some proper smile-inducers and heart-stabbers I'd forgotten about but will always associate with different nights around the country. Yes, lots are overplayed or not in the least bit rare, but who cares? Here's a small selection from my squillions of favourites, in no particular order: Charade - Four Tracks The game is over - Brown Sugar To be in love - MAW feat India What's your name? - Leon Ware Your love's so wonderful - Natural Four One-nighter - Dynamic Superiors The inner side - Shazz Optimistic - Sounds of Blackness (is there anything much more uplifting than this?) Somehow somewhere there's a soul heaven - Deep Sensation Papillon - Luther Vandross Sweet tears - Roy Ayres What the child needs - Terry Ronald Next lifetime - Erykah Badu (still gets me you b*****d!) Another star - Kathy Sledge Gemini lady - Ron Henderson Spread love - Al Hudson And not forgetting the only track that'll get me up at the work's Christmas do or dodgy wedding - Native New Yorker by Odyssey! Searching For The Young Soul Rebel

Hi there, think there might be a mixup here with another guy. Russ Breen is alive & well and still living in Beds area - I just spoke to him a few days ago as he was hoping to come to Bisley with us. Still gets out to some soul dos, rides a Lambretta and always goes to IOW scooter rally, but has 2 small kids so not quite so often as he used to. He did have a terrible road accident back around 2000 but made a pretty good recovery and is working etc. He'll probably never throw a backdrop again, but that might be a blessing PM me your phone number & email and I'll pass it on to him. Theresa x

		Bisley Nightshift 4th Oct 2008

A selection of shandy-drinking southerners shimmying at Surrey's premier shindig... and a couple of northerners thrown in for good measure.

		Maurice Jones

Yes, Maurice is still in Lytham and into the scene, though not as much as in the old days. He lent his DJing equipment to a friend of mine just the other day in fact. If you PM me your contact details I can pass them on if you like. Regards, Theresa (married to Justin Price from Blackpool)

Northern Soul What Does It Cost You?

Ha ha, four grand just on outfits for one memorable Cleethorpes weekender in 97 when Dru and I had decided that it was going to be a Soul Safari, and every single item of clothing, pair of shoes, handbag, coat, accessory, pair of knickers, whatever, had to be a different animal print. It got a bit competitive...

More Sad News, Theresa Carden From Leeds

Hi Kirsty, So sorry to hear the news. Will never forget the nights out at Thorne when you, Alison & Theresa were there. The three of you are such a fixture in our memories of that place. What a great time we had. Please pass on our sincere Southern condolences to Theresa's family on the loss of their beautiful girl. Theresa, Justin & Dru from London xx

		Sylvia Croasdell

Oh Sylvia, I just hope you realised how much everyone loved you before you took off. 'Darkest days' the last couple of years, but so many happy memories too. Hardly ever charging us for getting into the 100 Club (sorry Ady), hostess with the mostest from the very first Cleethorpes, especially the fantastic 'tears in their eyes' farewell Sunday nights when you could really let your hair down, the great nights out like Keele when you weren't on duty, mad rambles in the 100 club ladies, the fabulous outfits, baby showers in posh hotels where the staff didn't quite know what to make of us all, you dancing to Annabelle Fox 'Lonely Girl' at 10 to 8 on so many Sunday mornings. Glamorous & beautiful to the end, though you were never quite convinced. I'm sure you know now. My heart breaks for Ady, Sue, your children, family & close ones, but you're in a better place. As they say in that new-fangled modern room Deep Sensation number - "Somewhere, somewhere, there's a soul heaven, where a lot of your old friends that you've been missing for a long time, will be singing some of your favourite songs." Mine's a Havana Club & Coke when I see you there honey, and in the meantime I hope you're sharing a few gins with all the folks we know who've gone before. I'll have the barstool next to Lynden David Hall thanks. Too many cheesy northern titles to quote, but I guess 'I'll never forget you' says it best. With all our love, Theresa, Justin, Leon & Reuben Price, and the new Price baby-to-be (have a word upstairs and send us a girl, for God's sake)
