Record Stores Worth Visiting In London - Need Your Help
To be honest if you are looking for original Northern Soul I doubt you are going to be lucky in the London record shops - best bet is a record fair if you can tie one in with your visit. There are a few shops in London that have a good selection of 'rare groove' type soul but mainly on LP's.

Didn't Know This Had Been Booted
Who's responsible for all these over the past few years - can't believe they get away with it. It's time they were stopped whether that means naming and shaming them or the authorities in place doing their job and prosecuting those responsible. E-Bay is full of boots and carvers - aren't they supposed to have some sort of system in place to prevent it happening and closing the accounts of those that list them for sale. In my opinion they're just a bunch of scumbags and the soul scene can do without them. Glad I've got that off my chest - been wanting to say that for a long time

Second Time Around For Forgotten Sounds
Was also thinking about the Nite-Liters and Mack Simmons when I put up the original post. Mack Simmons was a huge sound at Cleethorpes for Sam - always played it every spot.

Second Time Around For Forgotten Sounds
Was thinking about some of the sounds that have had a second lease of life - Flame N King, Flaming Emeralds, Bits N Pieces and most significantly The Brothers - Are You Ready For This. The Brothers was never what you would call a huge record in the 70's - it had it's fair share of play but no more than anything else yet second time around it was massive everywhere. There must be other records like this waiting for someone to resurrect them. Some of the ones I remember from Cleethorpes in the mid 70's are - Kim Tolliver - I Don't Know What Foot To Dance On Prince George - Wrong Crowd Third Time Around - Soon Everything's Gonna Be Alright Black Nasty - Cut Your Motor Off - sounds just right for today Anyone got any others that they think deserve another chance

You Live Only Once - Imperial Wonders
Don't think there's any difference in rarity between Changing Tymes and Rock & Co - have a copy of Changing Tymes up for sale in 'sales section' Imperial Wonders is easier to find although there's a lot of bootleg copies about

Northern Soul's New Blood

Northern Soul's New Blood
one thing we do agree on though.... there are too many venues local clashing and we don't need another at the moment.... may try the Attic though ? beats me why the local promoters dont get together some time and sort this lot out...... .....cant be that hard... ? Pete n' susan xx Casper, you're right about too many events clashing but then the Robin Hood have decided to hold an additional night this month - clashing with Bestwood (established for 6-7 years) and the Time allnighter at Derby - a good example of promoters not talking to one another. There are about 30 monthly venues in the Notts / Derby area and while it's great to have a choice it doesn't make for a great night when the crowd is spread out between about 3 of them. Apart from that thought the comments you've made in both your posts were constructive and made a lot of sense.

Too Many Events; A New Slant On An Old Topic
I don't think they would know how to begin answering that question Jim. Half the people who set up these new events know very little about the broad spectrum of soul music and haven't got a decent set of records to their name - mostly boots / reissues. I've noticed in the Events section that the people who run the Robin Hood night at Edwinstowe have decided to have an additional night this month. Why??? And have they thought to speak to other promoters who they're going to clash with - Bestwood, for instance, which is firmly established.
