The book NORTHERN SOUL STORIES contains different pic of Paul with Major Lance album at Heathrow...another one which we didn't use had John Lennon in New York hotel room with big box marked with Epic logo. Norman Jopling says there were loads of Okeh 45's in there as The Beatles has asked about Major Lance. And book also has story about how Ringo Starr was supplied with complete collection of Oriole Records. Oriole said the biggest selling region for their Motown releases was Merseyside. And kind of related ...in the book the son of the owner of Oriole is interviewed and he recalls his Dad bringing Berry Gordy to their flat in Baker Street, London where, after Sunday lunch,Berry fell asleep on a settee with brandy glass in hand. Was hoping to get copy of the Oriole-Motown contract in the book but it could not be located.

Due to me changing my mind some of the contents got changed at the last minute, and as a result it went to the printers later than planned. Everyone who has pre-ordered a copy for Christmas - copies will be sent out ROYAL MAIL SPECIAL DELIVERY on Friday December 18. When they send out special delivery on a Friday the Post Office do not guarantee Saturday delivery but most of the time they do arrive on the Sat...if not will be delivered on Monday December 21. All parcels will have their own tracking number, so will not go missing in tranist. The books are full colour, 256 pages, and Glenn Gunton at Joe Boy has done a fantastic job with the graphics to go with the interviews. I think it is worth pointing out that "So Soon" was released by Glenn on Joe Boy and credited to Donnie Elbert in good faith.Glenn licenced it from Norman Jopling, who Tony will know is someone of great integrity. What happened was that in the late 60's Donnie was signed to a production company owned by Norman and Pete Meaden and when he left as compensation he gave them the rights to "So Soon" which he claimed was by him! The madness is told in the forthcoming book NORTHERN SOUL STORIES - have enclosed it on pdf attachment below if anyone wants to read it. The story captures how mad the 60's must have been with guns, arrests,a court appearance and being sectioned! I had great pleasure of meeting Van McCoy at a music convention in late 70's and was also in process of licensing some masters - via Bill Downs his partner in Vando (VAN McCoy Bill DOwns) from him for Inferno. Have been asked which mix of Lucky Lucky Me - Marvin Gaye is on the single? It is the original 60's mix as on the Marvin Gaye "Lost & Found" CD and defintiely NOT the UK remix that Motown put out as a UK single.
