This is the beginning of an introduction to a rare album, containing a number 1 Northern Soul record, by an amazing vocalist. True words indeed, but how many know what album it is from?

I sort of agree Dave, but even back in the 70s paying say £5 for a record was a weeks wage for many, so not that affordable really. I remember when I was living with my mum I got home from the casino on Sunday after being paid on Friday, and my mum asking me for my board, and I narrowly escaped living on the streets when I told her I couldn't afford it cos I had bought some records. Mind you there were a couple of blinders, especially when she';d poked me in the eyes a few times LOL.

A friend of mine seems to remember a record by Freddie Butler called 'Give me lots of loving'. Can anyone shed any light on any information about the record? He seems think it was on 'Kapp' records. Any help aprreciated

Oh dear me! Just seen the new 'Saga holidays' ad', and the backing track is Archie Bell - Here I go again. WE'RE ALL DOOMED!!!

yeah I def' remember buying the album for this track and playing it. I am sure if I could have got the 7" I would have bought that instead, and the shop I used to buy my stuff from that was very upfront with the stock they carried, 'Jumbo Records' in Leeds. I used to go in 2 or 3 times a week for the latest Motown tracks.

What has to be taken into account about top DJs, is that a lot of their revenue comes from royalties from the records that they have made in the past, especially names like Carl Cox, Sasha, Oakenfold etc. It's not all DJing fees. I remember in the 90s, Judge Jules was paid 250K to play for 2 hours in Sheffield, so there are a lot of big earners out there. Pete Tong cost £1200 when I booked him to play a gig for me in 1993, so that would be what? 8K'ish now, but well worth it, he packed the 1800 capacity club and there were 400 queuing to get in, he also plugged the gig on Radio 1 for 2 weeks.

I can't see it selling at that price if it does as said above it will be a basket case that buys it. Mind you, I hope that's what it's worth cos I know where there's one for a tenner. LOL

Toad, that's what I thought, the font definitely looks similar if not the same as the boxed set ones.
