Just got it through the post, and it's in excellent condition as described. Well pleased with getting this at such a good price

I have had quite a few booty and charity shop finds, one of my most recent is 'The Gamble Record Allstars' album which I got for a fiver, valued at £50, in Mint cond' too. I think there is still stuff out there if you keep looking, patience is a virtue though, cos you need a lot.

Thanks Pete, yeah I thought so. Looked on Popsike before I made the cheeky offer and saw that they were going for about £50. Great tune too, there are much worse that are fetching much more, I would have thought that with some of the crap stuff that's selling for silly prices, decent stuff like this, and original too, would have been selling for much more?

The sad loss of Vincent Montana, Jr. (February 12, 1928 - April 13, 2013) An American composer, arranger, and percussionist, most known as a member of MFSB and as the founder of the Salsoul Orchestra. He is the spiritual father of the Salsoul Orchestra, the backing band for the many acts on Salsoul Records. The personnel of MFSB and the Salsoul orchestra overlapped substantially, and both groups were recorded at Philadelphia's famous Sigma Sound Studios. In recent years Montana has worked with house music duo Masters at Work, which has rekindled interest in his work. Ken Cayre, founder of Salsoul Records, has praised Montana's skill at scoring strings, brass, and diverse percussion in such way that it all worked within a dance recording. As Montana was among the first with his considerable training and skill to apply such scoring technique to disco-oriented recordings, it is safe to say he is a true pioneer in the field. Most recently, Montana worked on 'New York City Boy' by the Pet Shop Boys. Vince Montana died on April 13, 2013.

Excellent and thanks, BUT this person said that even the label was not right, meaning that is never actually came out on Congress. It probably is a boot, but I was more interested as to whether or not it did come out on that label

Can someone please tell me if Andre Brasseur - The Kid/Holiday, came out on US 'Congress'? I have someone saying that one I am selling is a boot when I was under the impression that is was a USA Demo copy, or is it?? Thank you for any help.

Also eBay have just bought 'Stub Hub'? I think that's it's name. So you're not allowed to list event tickets for sale on eBay now as it automatically takes you to their ticket outlet site. Also I was looking on the US site a week or so ago, and on there you can display 12 photos free, whereas on the UK site only the first one is free and then I think 12p each thereafter. Not sure if it was as a special offer period or not.

Maybe a good idea would be to look for a vinyl pressing plant that is closing it's doors and selling up? There has to be one somewhere in these days of digital technology? I have seen quite a few over the last few years that have changed over to CD and have no need for the vinyl cutters etc. I have also see a few auctions that have been selling off old pressing plant equipment. You never know, a bit of research and you might strike lucky? Saying that the equipment from a pressing plant would be industrial size and not suitable for home use obviously. I wonder what happened to Twinks Emidisc machine?

Yes ik001, that is what they have the monopoly on, and they know that, I really don't think there is a more internationally viewed method of selling. That's providing you want to sell overseas as well as in the UK. There are other auction sites that have lower costs, but EVERYONE knows eBay and thats what eBay play on.

The Vestax one was actually quite good, I remember it being approx £4K. The good thing about it was that it used blanks that had the same lifespan as a proper vinyl record, and they were reasonably priced too. I remember when I got my first vinyl release, I went to an attended cut, it is amazing to watch. When they have cut the metal, they have a hugely powerful magnifying glass that they use to make sure that the grooves are not touching anywhere in the cut, that would make the record jump. It fabulous to see the grooves so close up of your own record. Highly recommended.

Just wondered if anyone had realised the cost of selling items on eBay. I just sold a record for £41 and the fee for selling is was £4.10p, Quite expensive I thought? The fee is 10% of the final price so if you sold a record for say £500 for instance, it would cost you £50 in final value fees. Yeah unfortunately it's impossible to predict what the buyer is going to play the records on. If the seller has a decent system and a record plays well, and then the buyer has a crap system and it doesn't what can you do? I suppose you could suggest trying another stylus or even a friends system to see if there is any difference, but that's it really.

Ending today! All originals, Mostly Demos

It's a gold re-press, 70s, last one on eBay sold for £76. Obviously it's because the record is heavily featured in the 'Northern Soul' movie, and folk are buying it because they don't know originals from boots. I have the same copy and was stunned when it went for £76, now I'm even more stunned that it's sold for this price. The world has gone mad. Oh! and yes the gold one is excellent quality.
