Whats The Story On This?
This is one of the ones I just bought for £11, so if the price of this listing is correct (which I doubt), another bargain goes into the box. Can I say it's really good to hear different peoples opinions about certain records, there is a massive difference in tastes across the scene, which in my eyes is very healthy. Always being a lover of many 'Blue eyed Soul' records, including the brilliant 'Mickey Moonshine', I think it was fate that I heard this and liked it and bought it immediately. I have now listened to it about 10 times, and that's before I have even recieved the record through the post, and I really can't see what is not to like about it? Doesn't bother me if a certain collector with rich parents made it, or someone in the 60s in a USA studio, it's the sound and what it instills in the listener that matters most, and to me, I think it great. Quite simply put, it's what Northern Soul is all about, Energy, Strings, danceable, decent vocals. OK Not the best in the world, granted, but certainly not the worst when you throw into the mix 'Joe 90' and the like

Whats The Story On This?
Well as I said in my second post, 'Strokes for folks', I really like it to be honest, decent voice and good dancer, and definately better than some I've heard.

Pete Jay Rip
Really sorry to hear this. Didn't go to Manifesto much but had the pleasure of meeting Pete on one occasion that I did. Very sad news and deepest symapathy to his nearest and dearest.

Whats The Story On This?
Reason I asked in the first place is that a test press of the re-press went on the bay tonight for £28 with 17 bids. On the other thread it says one went for £88, and that one of the originals went for £1000? Just wanted to know the history of it. Must admit though on instinct I just bought a 2002 repress for £11. So not too much to lose if I soon get sick of it :-). Thanks for your replies Steve

Whats The Story On This?
Well! you live and learn! I thought I had heard all the 100mph stompers, but one always jumps out at you when you are least expecting it. So! What's the story on 'Joey Delorenzo - Wake up to the sunshine girl'? Just heard it for the first time and I'm blown away. Is it blue eyed Soul, or a black artist? Where did it come from? Apart from the 2002 UK release, was it released previously? Album track? 7"?. I need to know all about this tune. Any help appreciated please. Steve X

Dilemma! Can A Crack Be Fixed?
I would imagine that the burning process would have to be done on the other side of the record and not the one you want to play??
-
Dilemma! Can A Crack Be Fixed?
Yes I understand that it would have to be perfectly aligned before attempting anything like that. How would you acheive the burning process? a cigarette end maybe, just on the edge where the crack is?

Record Storage Advice Needed
Ian, maybe one of the secure storage units might be an idea, I know you can get a small one for about a tenner a week up here, not sure about where you are though. The units are usually housed within a warm building so no damp problems, and you could use shelving in there.

Record Storage Advice Needed
No never really humid, but I would strongly advise not putting them in a Garage, even in the dryest garage and in containers, records always seem to be able to find any damp there is, especially in the cold weather as it is now.

Dilemma! Can A Crack Be Fixed?
I pushed the crack on a perfectly flat glass table top, it id click into place ok, but just a bit worried about it going any further. I have heard that there are ways but not how it's done. Thanks for the help anyway.

Mmmm? Interesting?
Thanks Chalky

Mmmm? Interesting?
Just got this through the post. A pleasure to behold in my eyes anyway. One thing that struck me though, is the the title track 'Breakout', is written by one 'G Knight' Is this Gladys Knight?, and if so, did she ever make a recording of Breakout?

Dilemma! Can A Crack Be Fixed?
Hi and thanks for the reply. Yes it is a tiny crack and can be lined up so as not to be too visible, but still clicks when playing.

Dilemma! Can A Crack Be Fixed?
Hi y'awll Just realised that one of my 7"s has a crack on the run in. It clicks over it but plays ok after and doesn't jump. Is there any way that anyone knows or has heard of, that can stop it from cracking any further or virtually fix the crack? Thanks for any help.

Curious
Yes I'm sure that Teddy Pandergrass was the lead singer of HM&TBN, although he had a solo career too. Not sure about the drummer bit tho'

Afternoon Of The Rhino?
Dunno, I've always wondered that. All I could come up with was maybe as the tune is so fast and furious, Mike Post thought it resembled a herd of Rhinos on the rampage? Dunno! This is my copy of the album, Still love the look of it!

Afternoon Of The Rhino?
I have a radio station copy of the LP, Always been one of my fave dancers. But what has always deluded me is what was Mike Post thinking of when he made it? There was no such term as Northern Soul then, so it wasn't recorded as that. It wasn't recorded as a theme tune for anything? It isn't Soul, or even Pop really, so what was it meant to be? I always buzz of the thought of a full orchestra going into a studio and recording it, can you imagine? I would have loved to have been there.

American Pickers
slightly off topic, and this thread will probably get moved shortly anyway. But I was watching one of the 'car Boot' programmes a few months ago when John Knowles was one of the 'hunters'. He found a 7" record and said, if this is an original copy it's worth a lot of money' I think it was an old Motown one, something like that. But many folk know that John Knowles was a regular at the casino. Just interesting I thought. I watch all of the ones mentioned above, I love em, wife can't see it though? Must be the bargain hunter in me.

Where Are All The Records Going?
