  1. Just did this mix and wondered what you thought? I love a good kicking so don't hold back (what am I saying?) Believe me this was a difficult one to do with a lot of juggling, cutting, pasting etc.
  2. Now that WOULD be nice. I'm gonna try to make this as big a success as I can,. This does mean a lot to me and I hope that it gets the support it deserves. An actual reunion being organised, DJd at by the originals, AND in the original venue to boot!! There can't be that many that can boast that?
  3. Yes Pete, the max is still 400, but they say they have had nearly 700 in??? MY GOD!!! Like I said above, the old Central still hangs on the walls, the atmosphere is still there even when empty, I tingled when I went in although I have been in there since the Central days to see Kim Weston, now that WAS a show. I think the ghosts of the old days could hear me discussing a reunion, and came out to say hello, and "YES, we're up for that"
  4. Yes sorry, I should have said that you did come back to me and I am awaiting confirmation. Sorry Ian, Just let me know asap, need to get the line up sorted as soon as. Time flies and it'll soon be on the doorstep. Regards and apologies Steve
  5. Been in touch with Tony, Ian, Twink and swish, waiting for replies from them all at the mo'. As soon as I have a confirmed line up, I will post it in here Roy. They all seem a bit backward in coming forward at the moment LOL! Steve
  6. I love the tune, great atmospheric sound, Great vocals and voice. It definitely IS Michael Macdonald of the Doobies, as I have him as a friend on Facebook and I asked him the same question and if he'd released the record, he replied yes and yes. As always it's each to his own, as with all records.
  7. Just bought a copy of this on Ebay, and i wondered if it had ever been booted or re-pressed? Joe Tex - You'd better believe it baby - White 'Dial' records. Got it for £3.25, so not overly bothered if it is any of the aforementioned, just curious. Joe Tex on Ebay Thanks in advance!
  8. Hi Ian, sorry for Hijacking this thread with a question that is clearly nothing to do with it :-) but can you please reply to the PM I sent you a couple of days ago about the 'CR'. Thanks mate. Steve
  9. LOL!! No Roy, the chips ARE done, and waiting to be served The Central was a massive part of my life, and made a dream come true when I eventually got to DJ there. It paved the way from me to experience the Northern Soul scene and meet some of my best friends, many are still good friends over 40 years later, including yourself. Bringing back to life the Central, even for one day is my utmost pleasure. When I went yesterday to meet the management it literally sent a shiver down my spine seeing the old place again, albeit, it has change a lot, but the bare bones of the Central are still in place, and the atmosphere of the old club, people and music still hangs on the walls.
  10. ROY!!!! Would I try to pull the wool over your eyes??? Like I said "it wouldn't work anywhere BUT the original venue" I have secured the ORIGINAL venue, the 'Central Soul Club' now HiFi. Now! apology please for doubting me LOL.
  11. The date is Sunday May 1st, the Sunday before Mayday bank holiday Monday, Original venue, and just waiting for confirmation of Dj line up. C'mon Ian & Swish, get back to me mateys.
  12. OK good news!! I can tell you now that the Leeds Central Reunion is on I am just discussing a day and date. It is looking very possible that it may be on a Sunday before a bank Holiday Monday, so all good for everyone. As soon as I know, so will you, but it's all go from the owners of the venue. OH! by the way, did I say I have managed to get the original 'Central' building for the reunion?
  13. I'd have thought that Sunday afternoon would be ok for getting up on Monday Morning, providing it didn't go on til' late?
  14. Luke warm water in a bowl, 2 drops of washing up liquid, swish it round with you finger to mix it up, but not to foam, wipe record with the solution on a soft cloth (you can rub quite hard), rinse under cold water tap, dry thoroughly with dry soft cloth, and if that doesn't work, forget it.
  15. Just purchased this on the bay, Major Harris - Loving you more - US Okeh, for approx' £11 + £3 P+P in VG++ condition. Is the price about right please? Thanks
  16. I remember watching Willy on tele' many a time. He just used to stare his opponent out and when he saw them struggling he'd strike. I remember in the 'central' one night (me and Willy were good friends by the way) I was stood near the bar, and it felt like a meteorite had hit me in the back, it was just willy saying hello with a friendly tap LOL. Good days (ouch)
  17. Listen! I will say this only once! "The chips are in the pan", tell everyone! LOL
  18. The chips are in the pan!!
  19. The Ritz was good but the dance floor made me feel seasick :-)
  20. Yes there is so much that can be done Pete if we put our minds to it, just need the right ideas and actions from the right people. Like I say i am willing to put a lot of promotion and time into it, there's nothing I'd like to see more than the old faces, and hearing the old tunes in the old place. I think even if we could get a mid week night it'd be ok, doesn't have to go on that late and I think folk would still come, or even a Sunday. PS - Started proceedings, leave it with me.
  21. OK now after all this 'Leeds Central' talk, the big question. When are we going to arrange a night to commemorate the club. I'm definitely up for it. We'll get the same DJs or at least some of them, maybe if possible the same venue, doesn't have to be on a Saturday, and I'm 1000% sure that a lot of the old crowd would turn up too. C'mon lads, I am more than willing to help get it going and promote it. What do ya think??
  22. 'Cat's Whiskers' in Leeds always hit the nail on the head.
  23. Went to this show at Batley Frontier Club near Leeds last Saturday as a birthday gift from my wife. What a superb show, and although Ben E King couldn't quite hit the notes (age related I suppose), he still put on an excellent show. Gary U.S. Bonds was the star of the show though, what a voice and what a performer! Sang all the big tunes including tracks from the Temps, Four Tops, Otis Redding etc. He had no problems in getting the dance floor packed. The band were totally on fire, hitting all the right notes with the crowd, I have to say, the closest thing to the 'Funk Brothers' I have ever seen. Amazing!! Fab show and a great atmosphere Ben E King closest, Gary U.S. Bonds farthest
  24. Yeah Pete, apparently Chris mallows has 1 too I think. Pete do you remember some of the faces from the Lulu's lot back in the day, like Tommy McLean and John Sweeney? I used to go to school with John Sweeney and it was him that introduced me to the Mod/Scooter scene. I think it will have been him that took me to the 'Spinning Disc' for the first time too. They were proper hard nuts.
