  7. Right heres my two pence worth, one of the best days out ive had in years was the family dayer at the lowton a few years ago, barbacue outside, kids dancing competition[put me to shame] just a great day well organized, imho the few younger people who do attend soul do`s should be encouraged that attitude of "DIV" days are over, certain people in york when i was a kid and they know who they are, used to take great pleasure in making me feel un welcome on the scene it was only the love of the scene that kept me going, i know a lot of people who dropped out because of this attitude, and some wich i personally find pathetic still have there high horse saddled,if we use the closed shop attitude its gonna be DEAD end of story, this dosn`t happen on the continent where there is a healthy younger crowd, and as for your comment ken your bang on right, we seem to forget its all about enjoying ourselves and it allways will be that way for me

  13. Ron pedley was the best story, he was collecting philadelphia stuff at the time, got talking to this lad who told him he would sell him his FRANK BEVERLEY-FAIRMOUNT, said i`ll bring it for you next week £25, next week ron was barbed and the kid came up and said ive brought that record for you ron, ron in his barbed stupor told the lad to f*ck off so the lad went into the record bar and sold it should have seen rons face when i told him what he`d done the next day
  14. Suppose that was the great thing about record collecting back then, it was word of mouth, no technology like today, and i suppose learning by your mistakes was part of the game

  19. As i said barry when i started trhis event some seven years ago it was held at THE JUNCTION in YORK so i looked for a brand name to combine the two, and york having a railway history SOULTRAIN just came as the obvious, if the others under the same name have been using this brand for 15yrs then its taken a long time for them to complain about our logo, but thankfully its resolved now no damage done infact in some ways the publicity has actually done us a favour
  20. My thoughts exactly paul, we didn`t know who it was just a phone number on daves phone, this publicity may backfire on them for using the name themselves, see you saturday paul REGARDS HARRY
