Hairline Crack - And Still Has Bidders Wtf
In its time, admittedly, a brilliant record, but is this just another example of the must-have mentality for some over-played worn-out oldie?

Has anyone ever seen one of these, or have any idea of the price? Thanks John

The Bootleg Stigma
Hi mate, interesting that you can't sell your bootlegs. Like most, I suppose, I collected a load of boots in the 70s, 'cos I didn't know any better. Nowadays I'm trying to replace them with originals, where I can afford to. The point is that, being mainly well-known tunes, I can sell my boots every time, but if I list a few not-so-well-known originals, they just gather Ebay dust. I have barely sold an original in months, either on the web or from a box at events. Perhaps if I put them out at £1 each they might go, but I've got my doubts even then. Very strange.

Cricket
Didn't think so, to be honest, nor Lord Beginner - Cricket Lovely Cricket, which is Calypso anyway. It's a good question you've posed .

Cricket
There are a couple of obvious candidates like 10cc - Dreadlock Holiday, or Booker T - Soul Limbo. After that, it's a struggle.

Not sure about risking getting oil-based substances on the label. Just use soap and water myself. Wash quickly but very carefully, don't soak the label, then dry between sheets of kitchen paper. It might not fetch all the muck out, but it's pretty effective.

Billy Stewart - Summertime (Extended Version)
That's the one. Quite corny by today's measures, but the class comes across. Wonder if it's been releaseed on DVD somewhere, like so much other old footage has over the last few years.

Billy Stewart - Summertime (Extended Version)
Cheers for that. It looks like there are 3 versions of this brilliant song, so there's a bit of searching to do . Have you seen the You-Tube clip that, after a still photograph or two, eventually runs some live performance footage. It looks like American TV stuff, possibly Night Train or something similar. The quality's poor, but you get the feel of it. John

Billy Stewart - Summertime (Extended Version)
Hi Smudger Don't worry about causing confusion, we now know there are at least 3 versions of this song, so that's an increase in knowledge. How sad - even more research to do on another otherwise totally boring day at work . I am told that Billy Stewart appeared at the King Mojo here in Sheffield, but I was still at school (just), had no money, and no idea. A couple of my slightly older mates went in the days just before it closed, but I had no chance. That was perhaps the same tour when he appeared in Doncaster. I should be seeing Joe next Friday and Sunday at the Horti and Washington, so I'll try to remember to ask him. Thanks again for all the info and chat, it's been great mate. John

Billy Stewart - Summertime (Extended Version)
Hi, To all who have provided information, especially those who agree with me, (though I still respect the views of those that don't), thank you very much. I have 45s of the various Billy Stewart tracks that have been recommended. They are all tremendous, in my view. The extended Summertime would be an interesting addition, so I'll see what I can unearth. Again, as is normal, ask a question, and the passion and knowledge of Soulies comes at you from all corners. Fantastic. All the best John

Billy Stewart - Summertime (Extended Version)
Tony, I don't really want to get into whether or not any particular individual likes the record. I don't care. We're all different and that kind of discussion never comes to any sort of worthwhile conclusion. Personally I love it, but that's of no consequence, 'cos my opinion isn't worth a bean to someone else. I just want to know where it came fom. Cheers John

Billy Stewart - Summertime (Extended Version)
Hi All, I've just been listening to an extended (5 min) version of Billy Stewart's 'Summertime' on You Tube. Does anyone know if this is an LP version, or simply an unreleased studio edit, or anything at all about it. If you haven't heard it, go get an earfull, it's stunning. Thanks a lot John

Right guys, just to get us back on topic, probably for the last time , I've had a word with a dealer I've known for many years, who I've always found to be bang on with his info. It seems this record was probably never actually bootlegged, ie copied or counterfeited illegally, but Brown Door, being a very small outfit had several small batches turned out by a number of pressing plants. That would explain the vinyl and styrene copies and the variations that have been noted regarding edge profile and such. Which was the actual very first batch produced is anybody's guess, but, if you've got one, it's almost certainly ligit. Hope that's of help, unless anyone thinks it's a load of rubbish . Thanks again for all the input: it's been very useful. As ever, you Soulies have proved a passionate and knowledgeable bunch . Cheers John

Yes, that's right, but the label is slightly bubbled though. It reads MH 6576 . S 1 MR (stamped in a circle) DD scratched in a circle and a Delta Number 99777 also scratched in. Nothing else that I can see. Any more ideas guys? John
