Premore and Premere records where both owned by Dora Halls husband, Leo Hulseman, the founder of the immensely successful Solo Cup Company.

I play "hoochi Coochi" by her on Premere. Most of Doras records were given away as promotional gifts to buyers of paper cups from the Solo Cup Co.

Dora was born in 1900, so she was "old dear" when she recorded the stomper "pretty boy" on Reinbeau!!

This is THE difinitive description then? I never thought it would be described so accurately and so succinctly in my lifetime, when so many other "luminaries" have tripped over their tongues and had their biros run out of ink, in trying to describe this northern soul thing. I note there is no mention of "baggy trewsers", "Wigan" or "All nighters" - but hey we can forgive those minor "omissions" eh?

The land north of Alaska is unoccupied, that is until you reach the Northern shores of the former Soviet Union (at which point you are actually heading due south, but that is immaterial as your compass will have stopped working a long time ago). This I contend must surely be the TRUE home of Northern Soul? The Northern Seaports of the former Soviet Union are awash with oil, rusting Naval vessels, rare vinyl, small unknown singers and hitherto undiscovered record labels. All greatfully supported by Comrade Roman Abramnovich.
