Just dug out another tape from Newbury and they play the other version of Billy Shields - I Was A Boy - the one that called You Were A Girl (I think)

I'll post the listing later, some nice 60s stuff on there

Bloody Hell Steve...you've got me thinking on this one....I remember dave Thorley playing this...think it was unreleased...but the singers name is on the tip of my tongue...I remember the guy had records on the old town lable...will probably remember it by the morning.. :thumbsup:

Edwin is quite correct about the unreleased Arthur Prysock version however the song was also written by and released on Cadet 5690 by Bobby Hebb.

Billy Shields is also better known as Tony Orlando of 'Tie a yellow ribbon' fame

Recently picked up a handful of great looking Bell "Promos" of a version of this tune by Gordon Waller (unfortunately one half of "Peter & Gordon") Anyhow it's not a bad version, very dramatic, and I've heard worse!
