October 7, 200915 yr I know you can get it on AMG but I always thought this was a reissue just wondered if i am right and if so what label is the original and how much a copy would cost me Thanks The original issue is on Trip Universal it is quite a hard one so it is expensive. The AMG copy is from 1975 and is a differnant take.

There are actually 3 different Trip copies, each one a different artist.... all have the same B side (Midnight Brew) credited to Melvin Carter, 6 PAK and Still Life. I think Mel Carter was the Levine discovery but the other 2 were slightly earlier releases. The Mel Carter one is the cheapest one to have but not really a cheapie Edited October 7, 200915 yr by Guest

October 7, 200915 yr In what way is it differnant Dave? My spelling, (a instead of e) The AMG copy has a girly vocal type of thing in the backround. Edited October 7, 200915 yr by davetay

October 7, 200915 yr In what way is it differnant Dave? I tell you a little story about the AMG copy, right here goes Took Friday off work to go down to Soul Bowl, to get something new to play at the Legion. I got a few bits and bats than John said that he had got copies of Midnight Brew just in. Great so I took one, back in Accrington for The Legion not having played it yet. 1st record from me Melvin Carter, I was stood there in horror when the girly bit came in, but the dancers did not notice. Thinking about Steve you would have been there. It took me at least a year to get a Trip copy, it came from Lee's in Miami.

Ive had 2 of the 3 on Trip over the years, I dread to think what they are worth now and strangely not Mel Carters version. The 6 Pak one was in a "Lucky bag" ages ago and it took me months to figure out what was on the flip.....nice surprise though, wish I kept it!

Rob Lythall turned up a version in the late 70s by the Glass Tears Band. A side was some random vocal tune by the Glass Tears

October 8, 200915 yr I seem to remember from the time the AMG copies surfaced being told that the AMG recording was actually the 6 pack recording credited to Melvin Carter. urban myth? I never managed to turn up any of the 4 - what kind of collector could I have been! best, RB
