Got this off ebay the other night (sound file to follow), it's a one sided acetate and it appears to be called "Same way you came in", it utilises the brass riffs from "Mr Pitiful" and I firmly believe it's a jamaican artist, probably recorded in Britain like Sugar Simone or Owen Gray.

It's not bad actually and would sound pretty good played out.

Have a listen below (sample will be cut 30 secs from end)see if you know who or what it is.

What is it that makes you think it was recorded in Britain, Pete?

I'd say he's definately West Indian, his pronunciation points that way...

Horns sound like they are from a 'Ska band playing Soul' - Ska horns always sound a bit off key to me (not in a bad way I've got to ad.)

i've got this on a JA 45 - it's Joe White - "You Got To Go" on Gay Feet. i put it on a swap CD back in 2006 for the modculture board so some people on here will have heard it... thought i'd put it on Refosoul, but can't see it

and the labels are reversed on my copy, but that's the correct title

mine was $25 or something from a US seller. think i only found it from the sound clip, then coincidentally heard DJ Cello play it at Coast to Coast a day or two after winning it. seems quite rare though

That's the original Jamaican release from 1966 so I'm guessing yes, it is going to be pretty hard to come by on original, and if it does it'll be knackered, so I think I did ok as this copy is EX/EX+

the tracks on this 45 are 'You Got to Go' / 'So Bad', which don't seem to be on a UK release (although there are a few small gaps in the Doctor Bird discogs i've seen)
