100 Records you should hear before you die

Just skipping around youtube and listening to some of the wonderful tracks found on there but with such a huge myriad of top class tunes its often good to have a recommendation so what would you choose to recommend to some one?

I'm not going to try to be high brow or clever but I want to recommend a Terry Callier track I first heard when he toured the UK, I went out and bought as many of his CD's that I could find and fell in love with "Gotta Get Closer To You", to my knowledge it hasn't been played on the scene? It deserves to be danced to and enjoyed so it is Terry Callier Gotta Get Closer To You that I am selecting as the first "100 Records you should hear before you die",

What's your choice and why?

Gonna be greedy and add another, no another two! The second track to hear before you die is one that Martin Bird "from Hull" loves and he is one of my Northernsoul heroes, the track is The Tomangoes "I really love you", Martin was stood with Gerry at Middleton, he won't remember the conversation but he told me that he would love to hear another The Tomangoes "I really love you", I went home and played it hearing such a perfect tune and one that I had never paid too much attention too just blew me away.

My third offering is Lou Rawls I'll See You When I Get There, we had all gone to The Twisted Wheel, very oldies tilted and I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I should have? I cam home in a convoy of three cars crossing over the Pennines on The Woodhead Pass and we stopped at the dog and Partridge for a drink.

It was a mega day, we all had such a giggle and found our selves saying goodbye in the car park after our stop. For some crazy reason we all started singing along to Lou Rawls I'll See You When I Get There and dancing and giggling to the chorus, daft as it may sound, these are the moments that stay with me and memories that are cherished and enjoyed with the musical accompaniment of what we call Northernsoul.

I remember this had 'On Broadway' on the flip of 12 " which was a huge late Wigan stomper, my mate bought it and scratched the love x love side up to pieces so he didnt have to listen to that 'JazzFunk Rubbish'....mental !!!!!
