The second one is the usual UK ABC coupling of Bobby Hutton - Lend A Hand / Willie Hutch - Love runs out. At a glance, it looks kosher, but look closer and it looks like the labels have been done in paintshop, the typefaces are all wrong, the label is slightly too small and the matrix number is HUT 001. What the hell is this and where did it come from?

I know I am not much help, but just to compare. I did notice under the Cat. No: ABC 4206 in brackets yours says AMC. 4206A2) What does the other side look like?

Exactly the same as the A side - same lettering etc. I reckon this might be a boot from the last 5 years or so

Dunno about the Mel Britt, but the ABC was around about 3 years ago.

Used to see them on eBay from the same place as the "Soul" copies of F Wilson / Originals / J Ruffin / G Knight etc - also White "Tamla" copies of "Love starved heart" (first and second generation) plus heaps of other boots.

Cant remember who it was now, someone obvious.

I am pretty sure that the 1st Mel Britt boots that came over where vinyl back end of 1975.

I remember a few people got caught out and payed at the time good money for them.

This was when Simon was selling them in one of his ad's and it was before the dealers had them (ie at a £1 or whatever in 1976)

That makes sense Dave, around the time of George Blackwell, kenny Smith, Dave Newman etc. Though the difference with this one, it doesn't have P.B. scratched in like the majority of those boots. But it is 100% definitely the same boot as the styrene one, with the heavy T on the ZTSC, identical - but on vinyl.

Mick Reed confirmed that he had a copy of this BEFORE the styrene bootleg appeared, in other words, this is one of the early counterfeits being sold out of L.A., before the styrene bootleg was made. They obviously used the same stampers to make the bootleg, except they did it at a different pressing plant (Monarch) and pressed it on styrene. So this is the very first bootleg/reissue.

Does that mean the Styrene ones are infact bootlegs of the Vinyl bootlegs!!!!

i bought a copy of the bobby hutton/willie hutch thing off gemm a couple of years ago as a replacement for my old one, a reissue/ boot of a reissue ?
