I won 3 records off a bloke and the postage charge is just a joke and I'm not paying it, is there any way I can complain about this and not have to go through with the purchase? He's charging £2 post EACH and not combining, then charging 2nd class standard, which cost 98 pence.

You could get three records sent Special Delivery for around about £6, so Second Class is just a joke.

I recently bought an item off somebody on eBay and was charged £3.75 for postage - when the item arrived it only had £1.90 on the label - so I queried the charge.

The seller sent me a snotty email saying that I had to pay for the packaging (all of which bar the packing tape happened to be recycled), their time packing and the 45 minutes it takes them to walk to the nearest Post Office, stating that these were all acceptable charges with eBays rules...

I don't mind sellers 'rounding up' but charging practically double is taking a liberty.

I left them negative feedback - stating that although the item was as described, their postage charges were ramped up and to avoid them because of this.

I think if they are unwilling to cancel the transactions, or combine at a reasonable cost, then this is your only option.

Pete - sorry to hear about this rip-off merchant, and hope you sort things out with Ebay.

On the other hand, I put some Northern Soul CDs on Ebay last week. Because of overseas PayPal fraud, I only send anything overseas by Air Mail signed for. Therefore, I charged £6 P&P overseas (clearly stated ON my ad) and paid the charge of the jiffy bag myself. The auction was won by a bidder from Germany. This prick paid for the item, then sent me a message saying:

"i will look on the package for 6bp. this is realy expensive!!!"

Air Mail cost £5.95, not to mention the 64p for the jiffy bag which I paid for myself. As I now had proof of this, I sent him back the following message:

"Your Air Mail registered postage came to £5.95. The jiffy bag was 64p. However, since freebie hunters like yourself prefer to think that jiffy bags are free (which in the UK, they are NOT), your PayPal account has been refunded with 0.05p postal overage.

I hope you find this satisfactory."

I also went to the sarcastic, insulting measure of actually refunding him 5p via PayPal, just to show him what I really thought of him.

Which goes to show that not only are there still (unfortunately) the postal rip-off merchants on Ebay, but also the freeloaders who are either too ignorant or as thick as shit to read terms, conditions and P&P costs or just generally want everything for nothing (mainly from certain European countries which I won't mention).

Seconsd one, charging me £3 for 2 records, when I asked why, they said it's £2 for the first and £1 for the second. So I said well the second one doesn't actually cost you any extra whatsoever, and I can do what you're doing for £1.30 tops.

He charged me £1 in the end.
