October 16, 201014 yr First time I ever heard It's A Man's Man's World by James Brown was in some weird space film where nothing much happened. Can't remember what it's called now as it was many years ago...............but I do remember the song absolutely blowing me away!!! Also a song in an old movie which stars Lana Turner called Imitation of Life has Mahalia Jackson singing Trouble of The World..............brings a tear to my eye...............awesome song!!! Carol
October 18, 201014 yr Only a TV movie but remember enjoying Lenny Henry / John Shea in Coast to Coast with a great Motown backing track. Not a big LH fan under normal circumstances but impressed by this. Always thought it wasn't available but just googled and found it for sale, at tv-memories.com , Presumably not an authorised copy as I don't think it's ever officially been available (was it BBc or Channel 4?)

Originally commisioned and screened on BBC2 under the Screen2 branding.Well worth finding if never seen,a feel-good production,IMHO.
October 19, 201014 yr Not sure if this fits with the thread as it's a track played from a soundtrack rather than on some offbeat film that has a surprise track in it. No Thing On Me (Cocaine Song) sounds absolutely 'kin great played out and a guaranteed floor filler at Just Soul. I'd be quite happy to hear out from the same soundtrack album both "Freddie's Dead" and "Pusherman" I have a sneaky feeling "Freddies Dead" may have had a few Torch spins late '72. October 19, 201014 yr Floyd Cramer 'On The Rebound' and Mel Torme 'Comin Home Baby' were both pleasant little surprises in An Education last year...
