April 2, 201114 yr I regularly send £50 records to the States, not many of higher value, I send them airsure, costs about £7. I'd guess additional compensation is around £2.50 up to £500.

April 3, 201114 yr yes about a tenner. but I am having 2nd thoughts abotu this service. Although a parcel of mine has never gone missing i've read recently they only pay out compensation to the amount you yourself paid for the item not what you sold it for. And you also need proof of what it cost you. This proof of purchaes value could prove quite difficult to get in a lot of cases. Has anybody used the claim facility and been successful i'd liek t know if the above is true.

April 3, 201114 yr You sure thats right,if so it would render the insurance bit useless fairly sure yes. i've started another thread asking i anybody has ever had to claim. I'm sure there will be ways to claim successfully if required but i've certainly read what I wrote. I found it via it google search on the topic and the royal mail website suggests this is the case as well but doesn't go into full detail.

April 3, 201114 yr see section 2 the box on the right. It asks for original receipt for proof of value ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/public/ctf/rm/Inland_P58_form_English.pdf
April 3, 201114 yr would it make a difference if you declared the true value on the customs slip ? not sure I think it is insured for the price you bought it for not the price you sold it for. i'm no expert and i've never had to do it but i'd be very wary you are getting the cover you think you are.
