What's it called? They did "Message to you Rudy" on Direction.

oops sorry its called broken heart and it is indeed the other side of message to you, they did another one on parlophone thats good also with a "rudy" themed a side, apparently from birmingham, just seems like one of hose records thats too good to have escaped attention, its on youtube

Yeah, Rudys In Love, was a minor hit - you'd know it if you heard it.

* the lead singer (I think) Norman Haines had an LP called Den Of Eniquity a year or two later -worth something like £500

'Never Set Me Free' is the flip of 'Rudi's In Love' on Parlophone. Can't remember but think it's mid-tempo, I'll have to dig it out and give it a spin.

Haven't heard the Direction tune though. Pete, is 'Message To You Rudy' another cover of the Dandy classic?

never set me free is another nice tune, i,m usually pretty good at this sort of stuff but once again never heard it before i was looking for broken heart on you tube, no lps or owt on gemm

Not really a fan of the Rudie sides.Their best track (soulish wise) is Never Gonna Let You Go which is the b side of You Must Be Joking (doomy prog with hammond.). Their LP is rare and expensive and a proggy affair.Not soulish.

The Direction single has always been hard to find, even when such records populated the UK's cutout racks and junkshops. I've never owned one in 40 odd years of looking....

'Rudy's In Love' was and still is a fantastic record. So is their psych masterpiece, 'Mr. Armageddan', but that's another rave for another forum...
