Okay, time to get thinking caps on, I heard a great song at a northern soul dance lesson last night and despite buying loads of soul compilations i just can't find who it is by! It starts off with a lyric that's something like please don't let me go or please don't walk on by and is a smooth type melody with backing vocals. It's the total opposite of temptations. Sort of music to shuffle with if you get my drift. It's not a loud lyric and ambles along. This really isn't helping is it. Any ideas? Sorry for the vagueness but so far all I've found on youtube is bloody Olly Murs records!

Who is Olly Murs ?

Bah! Just when I thought that my incredibly vague question was going to get answered! I'm assured that Olly Mur was/is a musical legend and 10 years from there will be track 5 on the compilation CD - "Simon Cowell's 10 years of solid shit".

Now get back to the task in hand please! Otherwise, I'll ask more antagonistic questions like is Phil Collins' version of "You can't hurry love" better than the original?

Why didnt you ask the teacher ?

Dance lessons :shhh:

Probably need a bit more info. male/female vocal etc, but one i can think of which starts with a 'please' is 'Elbie Parker' - Please keep away from me

Any chance ?

or even Yvonne Carroll - Please Don't Go

yeah, I've had the rhythm rascals forever, just never heard that side of the soul communicators (I like the northern side too, just don't like the high price).

that is exactly the reason I still do not own that record myself

I would guess that if its at a dance class it wont be to esoteric :g: . see Ive bitten :P , this has to be a wind up :hatsoff2:

Thanks for your suggestions (well the constructive ones anyway!) but I'm going to have to wait till next week to find out the answer. Some good tunes for me to look out for though..

Not a wind up and I don't see what's wrong with having a bop with fellow Northern Soul guys and girls, and knowing a bit more about it. Better than standing around like a lemon and doing sod all but hum the tune to oneself, which tends to be the norm for the blokes at least down here in Portsmouth. Some of the soul moves are so quick it's nice to know how they work! And helps keep me fit. It's like Zumba but with decent music!

Anyway, I'll get me coat.
