Quick one - I know this was originally unissued, but are the only available vinyl formats the Kent 45 and the Timmion LP?

Also was this a mastertape job or did it ever get as far as an acetate?

Thanks,

Mark

I bought this on Kent last week, fantastic tune!

I was assuming that the Kent 45 is the only way to get it on 45 and as the LP is a recent issue there isn't any "play it off the original issue" issue - if that makes sense.

I hope that there is no acetate or this will become another great tune that nobody ever hears out. Not that I go out or play out anymore.

Gilly will know. It was him who got it first from Dave Hamilton I think but not sure of the format.

I think the first onE Gilly had was the more raw take which may have came off a track tape. He kindly gave me a cut which i still have somewhere. Not sure this came out on the album either, will have to try and find it.

I've just dug the Dave Hamilton Dancers out and it does confirm that Gilly's was a basic take. The one of this CD is finished version with full brass backing grafted on. The one on the OC Tolbert CD from Kent is the same take.

It also has a scan of the master tape.....

OC Tolbert Black Diamond.

Yes myself and Andy Tats found this on a master tape at Dave Hamiltons RIP and i with Dave mixed up a raw (very raw) version so i could play it on return to the UK i used to think it was quite good up until a full and proper mix came out on ACE/KENT D Hamilton cds it sounds so good unlike my mix.Alot of people have made nice comments about what i used to play maybe its the shear rawness of the thing i dont know..Kitch can you dig it out i need to borrow it for Deans radio show shortly thanks
