Posted May 18, 201213 yr Hi all, I'm venturing into london on monday and was just wondering are there any record shops that are good for R&B or any that are pretty cheap on prices etc? Cheers in advance, James
May 19, 201213 yr Hi Might find something here :- www.timeout.com/london/feature/1004/londons-best-record-shop Edited May 19, 201213 yr by autumnstoned
May 19, 201213 yr Only soul shop that I know is Soul Brother in Putney near Putney train station, they deal mostly in modern and jazz funk but they might have a bit of 60s soul and R&B in.
May 20, 201213 yr Sometimes a few bits in here. Great record shop anyway. https://www.soundsoftheuniverse.com/
May 20, 201213 yr Shame you can't get there for the first or 3rd fridays of the month... The record fair at Spitalfields is a good stop off for 45s..
May 20, 201213 yr Sounds of the universe has gone drastically downhill as have all the shops in the Soho area if you're after anything other than new releases or reissues. i'd be more inclined to try your luck in the Record and Tape Exchange near Notting Hill tube where there's a specialist shop with Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop, latin etc. or maybe Flashback in Islington? cheers Sutty
May 20, 201213 yr The 2 second hand vinyl record shops on Hanway Street, W1 ( runs between Oxford Street and Tottenhm Ct Road ) still carry decent stock and if you do go to Record & Tape Exchange Notting Hill Gate (100 yards from the underground station - Cenral Line ), might as well walk the short (ish) distance to Portobello Road to check out Intoxica & Rough Trade ( both good shops IMO ). Think the replies above just about cover all angles.
