Heard a great single which was for sale on a dealer's site a while ago which I can't remember the name of now! I need your help to try and recall it, as it was just one of those records I HAVE to own.
Vocalist was male, had a fairly simple but addictive bluesy guitar/drum riff, and song was exceptionally long for a non-instrumental track at 6-8 minutes. The song's lyrical content focused on "time" or "fate" with a bit of a carpe diem imperative running through it.
Know that's pretty vague, but between us I'm sure we might be able to get a good list going of the more interesting northern soul records that don't have romance as the theme.
