Having started collecting again recently, on going through my box I found I had two copies of Darrell Banks - Open the Door to Your Heart- One on the UK issue the other on a Soultown import which has Somebody Somewhere on the flip. On checking in Manship though this record doesn't seem to exist. Anybody know anything about it?

I think this is an early boot..(71/72?)...i sent a scan for JM to include in his next bootleg guide....ive only got the 3rd edition...has there been one since?..BTW the labels on mine are reversed ...are they all like this

Yes, the 71/72 timing seems about right for when I bought it. I've only got the most recent imports guide which doesn't give it a mention. The labels on mine are the right way round.

Its nothing to do with Simon Sousan or the West Coast label with the same name...... it is a reissue label from 68/69....John Manship is actually selling Darrell Banks on Soultown for £25

great info ......i always used to assumethey were early boots.....any idea where the label was based...?.(UK?)...the original 45s are all over the place geographically in US.....i'm trying to think what market they were aimed at.(you could say the Twisted Wheel!)..they werent all big hits..altho i would imagine that some sold in fair quantities......heres a scan of Darrell Banks......wonder what 507 was?

its a US 'oldies' label reissuing tracks that were originally big US R & B hits.....I don't think they were aimed at UK market.....also don't know how legit it was

Just caught up with the thread and seen the request for a scan, Just arrived in London for a week of work so won't be able to do one for at least another week but will try and get one posted asap
