Dave It's impossible not to agree with everything that's been said about Mister Dale. Amazing how he turned up on a major label like Atco without being recommended on the strength of some sort of local release first? It's possible he was in a group that Atco was already familiar with so consequently they knew the standard of his voice. After a little bit of persuasion they convinced him to ditch the rest of the group and go all out solo for the big time that beckoned... Who knows? Derek Derek

March 3, 201312 yr Author Don't know, don't care. Doesn't matter. Â Â i only wanted to clarify whether it was (a) kettle drums, or (b) Odin weeping in the heavens because of song's supernatural power to induce melancholy..... because both are plausible answers.Â
March 3, 201312 yr Jeff Dale I believe was a guy called Jeff Crutchfield from Cleveland, OH although he was Memphis born. He was a member of The Springers (not the Philly group)  At the end of the 60s he operated a barbecue place in Cleveland but ended up getting murdered at some point.  Crutchfield's (Jeff Dale's) uncle was a member of Edwin Starr's (Charles Hatcher's) Futuretones Edited March 3, 201312 yr by Dave Turner
