I have these three singles by Jeff Dale on ATCO, and I love them all. Does anyone know anything more about him?

Language Of Love / Don't Forget About Me Baby - 1965

Come To Me Girl / Where Did I Go - 1965

A Suffering Pain / Our Love Will Grow Stronger - 1966

Thanks!

I've got these three 45's as well and rate them very highly. Does anyone know if he has any other releases worth checking out?

Flavor of the week , this year and every year.

this song is so dramatic - i LOVE the drum rolls in intro ... are those kettle drums?

It's impossible not to agree with everything that's been said about Mister Dale.

Amazing how he turned up on a major label like Atco without being recommended on the strength of some sort of local release first?

It's possible he was in a group that Atco was already familiar with so consequently they knew the standard of his voice. After a little bit of persuasion they convinced him to ditch the rest of the group and go all out solo for the big time that beckoned...

Who knows?

Don't know, don't care. Doesn't matter.

i only wanted to clarify whether it was (a) kettle drums, or (b) Odin weeping in the heavens because of song's supernatural power to induce melancholy..... because both are plausible answers.

Jeff Dale I believe was a guy called Jeff Crutchfield from Cleveland, OH although he was Memphis born. He was a member of The Springers (not the Philly group)

At the end of the 60s he operated a barbecue place in Cleveland but ended up getting murdered at some point.

Crutchfield's (Jeff Dale's) uncle was a member of Edwin Starr's (Charles Hatcher's) Futuretones

Leo, it was called Jeff & Al's and it was situated on the corner of 79th & Holton. It was in the late 60's though and it was short lived.

if you haven't spun "don't forget about me baby" - you should try it. very DEEP, but also spins like a nice beat ballad. sounds very good over a PA system!
