Anyone tell me anything about the Chalfontes group who recorded a couple of singles on Mercury please?

 

Don't know much about them. Did they do anything else apart from these two Mercury 45s?

 

Any group member info etc.?

 

My favourite track is 'Confessin' My Love To You'.

great detroit again, ( he loves me )...love the "trivia" in inverted comma's....pronounced, the shal-fon-tays and a fab b-side as well. bateman & mosely seemed to get their credits everywhere in the 60's.

I think they were one of LeBaron Taylor's groups. Named after Detroit's Chalfonte Street or Chalfonte Avenue.

 

Confessin' My Love To You has D. Marsha writer credit which is a typo for Don Mancha

Is Chalfonte Street/Avenue in Detroit pronounced in the same way as what I call the 'French way' as the group name is shown on the label (Shell-Fon-Tays)?

He named them after a street in Detroit he liked the sound of but no one could say it properly so we had to explain how to say it on the record label. I did a couple of tunes for him but he only credited me with one of them (Confessin’ my love for you)”
