georgeblackwell
I have just been playing the old - CHRIS BARTLEY - THE SWEETEST SIDE OF HEAVEN - VANDO - album and was struck by the similarity between Bartley's vocals and those of CHRIS (MARKE) JACKSON - I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU - JAMIE. could it be the same chap? Obviously Van McCoy was heavily involved with both recordings and they both have his trademark swirling strings and falsetto leads. What does the team think ? I have put up Chris's version of the Tony Talent track for comparison purposes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcwLYgRhyrs Link to comment Social source share
Roburt
This has been discussed before .... .... over many years the comparison has been made (going back to the 80's & pieces printed in soul fanzines way back then) ..... Definitely two separate guys but with similar voices (& as you say, Van McCoy involved with both). Chris Jackson seemed to 'fade away' after he made some money writing a big 70's hit for the Tymes ("You Little Trustmaker") ... ... Chris Bartley hung on in the biz much longer & was a member of the Ad-Libs in the 80's. Edited April 28, 2013 by Roburt Link to comment Social source share
