Below you will find an attachment of a letter that has been sent to the Sec of The Broad Lane Social Club Essington Wolverhampton, the promotion Good Times is run by Max Millard (Blue Max) As Max is not a member of Soul Source he has asked if I will post this up for him.

I will also copy the letter word for word, just in case the scan does not show to clearly.

The comments below will be mine.

Dear Sir or Madam

First may I introduce myself, No names at this point all you need to know is that I am a local Police officer. I have been to your last two Soul nights at the Broad lane club, I feel you may need to know something about what is happening on these Soul nights.

I'm soory to say you have a big DRUGS problem, obviously you probably do not know at this stage. I have loved the Soul scene for many years, but this has always been a big problem, with venues having to close down in the past because of DRUGS.

The first thing I knew about this is when I attended about two months ago. Drugs were being sold openly on the car park at the back of the club, and then in the toilets inside. One of the men selling them was one of the DJ's I think he may be one of the people running the show?

When I entered the toilets two men were acting in a suspicious manner, I thought nothing of it, until the last soul night Friday 28th of July. The two men I witnessed last time were here again, they asked me if I wanted anything??? So I said what have you got on offer, they said Speed, Cooke, HEROINE (class A DRUG) At this point I could not believe it, so I said how much for the Heroine, they said £20 I said ok. The pack you see is what I purchased in the toilet just to show you what's going on. I was also asked if I needed syringes for injecting.

I then witnessed one of the men injecting himself in the cubical and the other snorting cocaine off the sink. At this point this was all to much for me and I left the event with the evidence.

I have a friend in the drugs squad, I have told him, but in a unoffcial way. So I am telling you this has to stop. If I come down and see this type of behaviour again I will officially contact the drugs squad. This is my duty to tell you, so you can act in whatever way fell, or it will be my duty to officially report this problem that may cost you your Licence. PLEASE TAKE NOTE THIS IS NOT A HOAX.

I have posted this, not to start a witch hunt ( If I knew who sent this, I would name and shame) but to highlight and ask what the f*** is going on with our scene?

Doe's this scumbag not realise that by their actions they bring unwanted attention from the Police ie smaller grass roots venues who run on a shoe string and who can not afford badged door staff could all get visits,

This sort of dirty trick seems to be coming the norm, God knows I and others have been targeted in the past and to tell you the truth, I had started to think Ahh well its part of the game of promoting now days!!

Well brothers and sisters we are killing our own scene from within.

Like you said Baz..This post is drifting away like so many others from a the real point...The point is that a person who some of you know is involved in sending this letter and of other dealing too....Lets hope that people power again can win through and the snakes all crawl away..Lets hope that people who behave this way are named and then we can at least keep them away from our nights...Not a letter from pc plod,just a letter from some person who got one Cse in woodwork at school it would seem ,not the sharpest tool in the box...Don't all this shit get you down sometimes...Grown men who act like spoilt kids in the playground..I don't think you will ever really stop rival promoters trying to put each other out of business,thats the game some play...

Its very sad the lengths people go to to sabotage an event. Never been to this event but, will now to show support for Max. So his letter has in fact had the opposite effect he wished it to!! See ya all at Wolverhampton?

On saturday night I recieved a polite bollocking for making the above statement.It might have been percieved at the time ( 23.00 hrs), that I was under the influence.Regardless whether I was or not and as the thread unravels,I stick by it.I must also say that at first I thought it was a joke.

The devious illiterate prat that wrote this letter has successfully goaded other members to once again betray fellow scene members (50%one said) of their discretion.As someone else said look what happened to our Saint.He should be rooted out and dealt with internally and the whole kak ignored.

You can probably find flippant contradictions in my past posts.We are a scene as long as we look after each other.

I have been a close friend of Max for longer than i can remember, he even came out of retirement to DJ at my wedding. I only hope the person who tried to destroy not only the clubs reputation but Max's, reaps the benefit of a long lingering death in excrutating pain.

Max has over the years been been one of the guiding lights of this scene of ours, & has the respect of many DJ's, collectors & punters from the length and bredth of the country.

I am certain that without his contribution this Loved Scene of ours would have died whilst in it's infancy.

If the letter came from a rival promoter then perhaps he should review what is on offer at his club, then maybe his numbers would flurish and the need for dirty underhanded tactics would cease.

Sorry ....It wasnt meant as a telling off .... just pointing out that the "issue" wasnt about the drug culture, on the scene ithe issue was & is about "the intent to harm" ...

I do wish I could prove who not only sent this letter but also the others ...

We have a good idea who reported NCS to the DS & the other stuff they did but what we dont have is proof (YET) .... & without concrete proof it would be wrong of us to "Name & Shame"

I do believe in Karma .... so I wait for "what goes around will come around" .... to happen & it will !!!!

I agree booze can be destructive as well unless in moderation. Yes I get drunk once in a blue moon but I dont go harming anyone with it so I suppose the point is in moderatiojn as long as you dont do any harm to anyone else its acceptable- Is that reasonable enough for you!
