Just found this, if it's been posted previously or should be elsewhere I apologise in advance.  It's an 11 part series, produced by a certain Frank Wilson. Parts 1 & 2 are available on demand and Parts 3 & 4 are on this weekend.

If it is anything like the Atlantic Records Story Bbc6 did not so long back it will be good.

Apparently this was originally broadcast in 1984, presented by Stuart Grundy. Thanks for posting it up, I'll be having a listen.

it might be 30 years old but its well worth a listen 2 down 9 to go 
you forget how good the tunes are because you heard them a million times before but never play them as they are only motown/not rare /northern
so off to listen to some TMG
