Me too. A considerable influence on me when young.

Dave was a great human being, championing equality and diversity on all fronts as well as being a great writer and top soul gentleman.

I remember the first DG column I read, when he ended with the 'do what's right, not what's white'. Always the first page I turned to when I got my Blues and Soul.

I don't want to be a pain or deny his influence or underestimate his importance but from what I know, that write up seems a bit off to me. He coined the term 'northern soul' but 'father of northern soul'?? Certainly one of the first to document it but didn't really establish it did he? If anyone, that would have been Roger Eagle maybe..?

Am all for Dave getting recognition but not rewriting history...
