I picked up Len Barry 'I struck it Rich' and Billy Stewart 'Secret Love' for a fiver each, on the recommendation from a mate - what a cracking pair of tunes.

I liked the Len Barry straight away, but was not sure about Billy Stewart but it really grows on you!

Any other recommended listens from them?

I think Billy Harner did another version of I struck It Rich, which was the version palyed at wigan, an the one I perfer. Len Barrys "You Baby" also get spins although it is a bit like "1, 2, 3," part 2. Also "It's a Crying Shame" and many others. Great Blue Eyed Soul.

Billy Stewart On the other hand is a very different kettle of fish with many great tracks some like "Secret Love" off the "Teaches Old Standards New Tricks" album. Best tracks are "Summertime" & "Old Man River" + many others "Count Me Out" in particular.

In my experience, anything by Billy Stewart is Brill.

Re Len Barry - he did a version of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, the Bunny Sigler version - what I mean is, using the same backing track as the Bunny Sigler one on decca, which is absolutely brilliant. I wasn't sure if it came out on a single or an LP track but I saw it on an Israeli EP last week so I bought it. Was it a single?

He also did an unreleased version of Johnny Caswell's You Don't Love Me Anymore....I'm sure Kev Roberts told me that, after he had been in a conversation with John Madara

Personally I like both Versions - Len Barry & Billy Harners Version of "I Struck It Rich"

Note to self must remember to rerecord len barry as thats a crap recording
