Sad to hear.  Denise has made lots of great music we enjoy.  Recently I've been listening to her 1970s recordings more including the post-disco stuff.  Going soft in my old age!  It is interesting reading about Denise LaSalle in the new Memphis '68 book.

Sad news, must be horrendous

Had the pleasure of meeting her in the dressing room at Manchester Ritz c. 1993 when she was on a triple bill with Latimore and Little Milton and she was lovely - told her 'Trying to forget' was one of my faves and she sang it to me off the cuff - her voice was amazing and she wrote me a note saying 'to Chris - thanks for digging the music' which I still have inside the 45 sleeve.
