Rod Dearlove did a pretty comprehensive listing (for the time) about 25 years ago.

I've got a copy (somewhere in the archives) but he might be well worth contacting.

YES WE REFFERRED TO THIS AS THE BIBLE AT THE TIME,GREAT SECTION IN THE MAGAZINE ABOUT BRITISH DETROIT LISTINGS ALSO, FOR ITS DAY IT WAS SO WELL PUT TOGETHER WITH MOST OF THE MAJOR DETROIT COLLECTORS IN THE UK CONTRIBUTING.

If you can be patient, I have a book at the publisher being processed called GROOVESVILLE USA. Amongst other things it lists about 700 record companies that issued black music between the mid 50s & 1980 (but NOT Motown) from the Detroit metropolitan area. Each entry shows label name, address, owner & artists. As soon as it is available I'll post again.
