can anybody recommend a good book on Neo Soul in general. I have several biographies of various artists, but I am looking for a book that is more general about the genre as a whole. Does anybody have a recommendation?

Neo, do you mean new soul as in recent soul music?

I'd assume we're talking, the neo soul movement that started in the late 90's; Erika Badu, de' Angelo, Jill Scott ect. 

I believe Neo-soul is a genre of its own which has evolved from classical soul, whether this is the same as New soul I am not sure.  The reason I am looking for a book is because I want to find out more. I believe the artists listed by Geeselad are indeed Neo-soul performers. I want to find any information about what defines the genre, how it evolved, what the contributions of different artists are. Its a good book I need.

I wasn't sure if it was the movement o=r simply new soul you were interested in

IS IT A WRAP FOR NEO SOUL IS A BOOK I READ A FEW YEARS AGO (CAN'T REMEMBER THE AUTHOR) IT BASICALLY WHAT HAPPENED TO IT IE MAXWELL,JILL SCOTT,D'ANGELO   VERY INTERESTING READ HOPE THIS HELPS A LITTLE
