Something about it being a nasty forum, says  a member made a comment about wishing cancer on somebody, over a northern soul  movie, sounds bs to me.

 

Fair enough if it is true but if it isn't, shouldn't go unchecked.

 

Think the scene is small enough without people criticising each other.

Ah yep I read him once saying similar before

Funny enough we had someone the other day doing  just that (wishing cancer on someone on here)

That account (a new one, but seems it may have been a ex-member) was closed straight away and posts deleted

I would say that (hopefully) the same thing should have happened back then, account closed asp or at least actioned upon in some way, I can't recall that incident, we are talking 2014 then yep?  but would hope myself or someone on the team did so right away

You can still  read all 20 odd years of posts on here, via the archives, like to think the place is and has been fairly well run over the years but I guess some may have differing  views on that which is fair enough

This was about one of the Northern Soul films that came out about a decade ago, where Ed knew the producer or director as a friend, and he found out that people on the Soul Source forum was wishing death on that person.

It was less against the site, than against the mindless hate that would sometimes flare up on the forum, back in the days when there was a lot more posting and people were very hot headed.

He was conflating the sites forum with a certain strain of the northern soul scene.

 

 

I seem to remember Eddie saying summat, but it was off the cuff and nothing personal. Lots of folk on the fringes of our scene don’t really understand it’s politics, complexities and in-fighting. Eddie is a “diamond geezer” and enjoys northern soul folk without being one himself, he’s a mod, and as such should be enjoyed...and is regularly patronised by me for being so!😆👍.
