Has anyone got any idea of fees I would have to pay for buying a record from Japan. The record cost is 2750 yen which works out about £14.86 with about £9.56 postage. Any help most appreciated.

Mick,

My experience is as follows:

If the item is on ebay and subject to the "Global Shipping Programme" then the fees will shown on the listing.

If it's not in the global shipping programme the fees could be equivalent to VAT so around 20% of the total (£5)

There might also be a small one-off fee on your credit/debit card to cover the currency conversion (maybe £3).

Cheers, Carl

Don't forget the £8 that Royal Mail add on for collecting the VAT (if outside the Global Shipping Programme).

That's correct but only if you hadn't paid the correct amount before shipping. A  purchase via Discogs for example.

I've got a couple of cds ordered, 3000 yen total. Shipping is 1380 and they've added VAT at 876 if that helps.

Discogs is same as eBay with all fees added at checkout
