Was the 80's a bad decade for soul? Just wondering what peoples favourites were?

I'd like to get an 80's set together just wondering about anyway faves? I always liked the Ruffin and Kendricks stuff? Any recommendations?

Peace

Tank and Andyrattigan,

You both made me remember on the whole "Silky Soul" album by Maze. I played "Mandela, Mandela" so many times... IMHO, on this LP Franky sounds a little like George Benson on "Livin' Inside Your Love" vocal tracks LP.

A few more (appart from the one by Maze):

-"Parisienne Girl" - Incognito

-"Homeless" - Curtis Mayfield

-"Searching No More" - Billy Paul (not sure 100% about the correct title, is from his Total Experience album "Lately", 1984)

-"What A Woman" - O'Jays (my fave from "Love Fever" album, Eddie's at his best!)

-"Velas" - Quincy Jones

-"Dinorah, Dinorah" - George Benson

-"Beyond" - Herb Alpert

-"Positivity" - George Duke (from "Dream On" album)

-"Hard Rock" - Herbie Hancock (from "Sound System" LP)

-"Love Is Coming At Ya" - Melba Moore
